I few weeks ago I posted looking for some people to try out our Frame Locks.

As a follow up. Our product is featured in a 6 page article in September's issue of Honda Tuning magazine. It's in the new stands now. Go check it out.

Here's a couple of paragraphs from the Honda Tuning article:

"With the Frame Locks dialed in we took the cars out for a romp on some city streets, not really sure if we would feel anything significant. Well, it was like night and day. In fact rarely do we encounter an aftermarket handling product that delivers what it claims so immediately. The Frame Locks affected the cars right off the bat, regardless of speed or road setting.

Primarily the Civics felt abundantly more solid over all conditions. We found that especially on roundabout freeway onramps the vehicles were undaunted by lateral acceleration, and mid-corner braking and throttle lift-off did little to un-plant them either. Even over bumpy roads and train tracks the cars handled better. The newfound solidness translated to a much smoother ride and improved steering feel.

The owners of our test Civics were equally pleased. In fact we asked Dinh Ly for his impressions and he gushed, “I took [the Civic] out on a familiar mountainous road where I know all the twists, bumps, and potholes by heart. I couldn't believe the improvement; it was like a different car! Every turn was smooth and solid. The bumpy parts definitely felt less bumpy too. I took a high-speed turn and felt no [frame] twisting whatsoever. Some of the dips in the road were severe, but with the Frame Locks installed the car felt great.”

sounds good.. but 100+ bucks for a metal bracket.. could'nt i just weld plate steal in the same area and have this product for 15 bucks at a shop ?

i installed my locks about a week ago and they do grant a large improvement over the stock ride. i myself have a tein type-ha suspension, front and rear upper and lower tie bars, and 205/50/15 falken azenis all around. my car handled very sharply before the install.

after the install the very first high speed sweeper i took i oversteered. i had to reduce my steering input to get the car to go where i wanted to. the front end overall feels very together. there is absolutely no slop now, and initial turn in happens very quickly. i have pictures of the installed product, and will upload them by lunch time.

the locks add a triangular support to the crushable area between the front crossmember and each frame rail. essentially this makes the front end one piece instead of three pieces held together with a section that is designed to flex...

as to the concern about front end collisions..... another frame locks tester that i know rear ended a cadillac. his front crossmember did not collapse, though his bumper was broken into three pieces and his hood latch was shattered by a flexing upper radiator support. i think these locks served to transfer the impact down through the frame rails instead of allowing his front crush zone to buckle. they saved the front end of his car, though one could make an argument that the frame farther down the line was damaged we did go over his car very thoroughly. also, his handling was not affected after the accident. this is not to say i am 100% right, but that is what i noted.

First, I have no opinion about the product. I just wanted to make an observation.

The front crush zones are there for a reason. If the energy of the impact was transferred to the frame instead of being absorbed by the front end of the car, that means the impact was absorbed by your friend's body rather than the vehicles. In a more severe collision this could increase the amount of injury. Have you ever asked yourself why race cars seem to come apart into many pieces when then collide? It is to protect the occupants of the vehicles.

I just wanted to state my observation. Please form your own opinion.
