intro and mod question
Hey all, new to website, seems like this site has a pretty sweet setup with a wide audience, lookin forward to chattin with ya'll more. I recently picked up a civic ex with a d16y8 manual trans and am wondering what kind of cheap mods to add, right now its lowered with 17s, has greddy exhaust, aem cai, 9mm wires, short shifter, not that this is an engine mod, but I might be buyin some racing seats black leather. ALso i need to get a clutch for the car, so if anyone could point me in the right direction there thatd be cool, so yah i might have a 100 or 2 to spend on mods and want to get some input.

how difficult is it to change your clutch and flywheel?? I am fairly mechanically inclined, but I havent touched any internal engine parts as of yet. I dont want to pay a fortune to have someone else do something that I can do, but it would just take me longer, Do you all have any direction for me there

Word of advice:
Buy yourself a helms manual for your car. Has detailed instructions in how to take apart your car bolt by bolt, and how to put it back together.

I wouldn't want 17's on my car, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Sometimes it looks nice, and some people really like that look. If he wants performance though, some 14's or 15's would be better.

yea... true... i have seen some 17s on civic... but my opinion are they are too big.. they will rob you for a lot of power... even 16s on my old hatch where power robbers... but its all up to the owner...

I had stock 14" (HX) then 15"s, then 16's, 17's, and now I'm back to 15's again.
15's are just perfect for honda civics and itegras, they dont look too small of a wheel and tire sizes you can fit are better than what you can use with a 16" or 17" wheel.

previous pwner already did all the cheap mods and beating the **** out of it for you, congrats, i woudl have bought some stock like i did from a womens in her 40's only owner, i search a long time to find it i didnt want some kitd beat ricer, not saying yours is but lots were around here, but good luck

Hell yeah . I got my 100% stock Dx from a women in her 60's for $4000CDN and it's a '92 with only 96,xxxkm when i got it . Starting from scratch is the best because you can build it up the way you want it.

first set some goals, u want an auto x car or drag or do you want to do that with a d series engine or a swap. find ur goals first befor u mod it, then buy parts to accomodate ur needs to meet ur goals.

yah I am not up for doing a turbo/supercharger/engine swap, so I will have to look for smaller rims, because I want to feel the power, not lose it. THe 17 inch look isnt that appealing to me. So some questions, I am looking at some clutches and like I said, I dont plan on doing any big upgrades as this is going to be my daily driver, so would u guys go with a OEM replacement, or what would be the benefit of going with like a stage 1 clutch???? Hey if any of you guys has a d series clutch you are lookin to sell, let me know via email at bhut2180@bellsouth.net. My throw bearings are makin alot of noise and I want to replace the clutch within the next month.

what type of clutch would be sufficient for the slight mods I have (cia, greddy exhaust, dc sports header), i would imagine that I can overdo the clutch, by the way, I am getting a 7.5 lb flywheel to put on when I put on the clutch, got an excellent price of 65 shipped for it
