Intermediate Half Shaft on B-series? Need help ASAP
We're trying to install an intermediate half shaft from a b series motor into a 99 LS motor (on an EK hatch) with a 95 JDM GSR tranny but it won't line up. It will bolt up to my 99 GSR just fine. Which ones fit?

Was the LS motor an Automatic? The GSR one should fit, I have a 2000 LS and we test fit it to the Si tranny and they line up perfectly and should line up just fine with the 95 LS tranny im about to put in.

Where is the Intermediate Shaft your trying from? The 99 LS, JDM GSR, or USDM GSR? It should work if its from any of those and they are also from manual trans motors. Automatic Half Shafts have a different part number. Have you checked all the trans and block angles and so forth???

Re: Intermediate Half Shaft on B-series? (1999silverhatch)
Alright, my wife did me the favor of posting that up for me, I'll give you a little more detail.
The engine is a B18B1, not sure if it was originally an auto or manual, but the halfshaft I was trying to install is from a GSR. I compared it to the halfshaft from my '99 GSR I have laying around and it's a perfect match so I know it's a 5spd peice. What happend was, when I inserted the male end into the tranny, I flipped up the triangular part with the bolt holes to bolt it into the block, but I noticed right away that the top most part of the halfshaft was sitting about 1/2" away from the block when the bottom made contact. I tried removing and reinserting the peice thinking maybe I just didn't get it in all the way, no dice. When the halfshaft is in place, the bolt holes line up with the openings on the block, but the actual surface of the halfshaft doesn't mate properly with the surface of the block.
Does anybody know if there were any differences in B-series blocks with regards to placement/fitment of the halfshaft? Do automatic blocks have a different casting? Has anybody seen an automatic halfshaft and can confirm it's being different from a 5-speed?

After searching the forum, I have the exact problem as he does. It would be of great help if there was an answer to it. The difference is that I am doing a B16a2 JDM swap into a 94 Civic DX. The half shaft that I have has a female end, but all the 92-00 half shafts for sale online have male ends. Do I possibly have the wrong half shaft, or am I doing something wrong? Any replies are most appreciated.
