Default interior wiring problem on EM1

Ok so I bought a em1 with aknocking motor, all the electricals were working fine.

took the longblock out and traded it for a good longblock, when I traded, I left my old motor harness onthe old motor and took the new one on the new motor, the new harness had a coule wires that were close to the ecu cut and reconnected, they all looked fine.

I got the motor home and threw it in and connected up all the wiring and turned everything on - the dimmer switch on the dash began to smoke. I turned of the car and started checking fuses and the switch. The dash lights and windows and door lock swithces are now not working... all fuses were and are still good. VTEC was also not working.

So right off the bat, I went and got a new motor harness and put it on, still the dash lights, the windows and the locks aren't working.

SO now I'm thinking that since the fuses are still good, that I shorted/burnt some wires in the dash/interior harness.

I'm going to have a buddy take a look at it and see if he can figure it out, but does any one have any ideas? I'm going to try the main relay, but I need to find a good dimmer switch first..

Trying to not have to take it to an electircal shop and get fucked.

Thanks. - anybody got a god dimmer switch?
