no 96-00 civics came with a black interior.

99-00 hatches only came in type K interior.

Ek's were NEVER produced in America, we have Ej6's for hatches.

Though faboy's will always call them Ek's, I do, my name is EK.

People commonly call the '96-'00 Civics "EKs". No US Civic was ever a true EK chassis though.

The following are the ONLY 6th generation ('96-'00) USDM Civic chassis ever available.

DX coupe - '96-'00 - EJ6 - SOHC non-VTEC
EX coupe - '96-'00 - EJ8 - SOHC VTEC
HX coupe - '96-'00 - EJ7 - SOHC VTEC-E
Si coupe - '99-'00 - EM1 - DOHC VTEC
CX hatch - '96-'00 - EJ6 - SOHC non-VTEC
DX hatch - '96-'00 - EJ6 - SOHC non-VTEC
DX sedan - '96-'00 - EJ6 - SOHC non-VTEC
EX sedan - '96-'00 - EJ8 - SOHC VTEC
GX sedan - '98-'00 - EN1 - SOHC VTEC CNG
LX sedan - '96-'00 - EJ6 - SOHC non-VTEC

The EJ6 chassis being the cars with the SOHC non-VTEC D16Y7 (CX hatch, DX coupe/hatch/sedan, LX sedan), EJ7 being the cars wth the SOHC VTEC-E D16Y5 (HX coupe), EJ8 being the cars with the SOHC VTEC D16Y8 (EX coupe and sedan), EM1 being the cars with the DOHC VTEC (Si coupe) and the EN1 being te cars with the SOHC VTEC compressed natural gas engine, the D16B5.

No USDM 6G Civic ever came with a black interior.

'96-'97 hatches came in dark gray and light gray.
'98-'00 hatches came in dark gray only.
'96-'00 coupes came in dark gray or light gray.
'96-'00 sedas came in light gray or tan.

Black interiors can be found on certain overseas hatch models, such as the EK4.

Incorrect, type K is dark grey. There is a lighter grey which I'm sure NOFX will chime in and confirm the code. "type ___"

Type F = Light Gray (Excel Charcoal)
Type K = Dark Gray (Classy Gray - this is the only interior color the Si comes with)
Type P = Tan (Medium Taupe)

An EJ8 can be a 1996-2000 EX coupe or a 1996-2000 EX sedan. The number in the chassis code DOES NOT denote the year of the vehicle. The chassis denotes the engine for USDM 6th gen Civics.

Read my little list above for clarification on the chassis codes.

EJ6 = CX hatch (SOHC non-VTEC - D16Y7)
EJ6 = DX coupe (SOHC non-VTEC - D16Y7)
EJ6 = DX hatch (SOHC non-VTEC - D16Y7)
EJ6 = DX sedan (SOHC non-VTEC - D16Y7)
EJ6 = LX sedan (SOHC non-VTEC - D16Y7)
EJ7 = HX coupe (SOHC VTEC-E - D16Y5)
EJ8 = EX coupe (SOHC VTEC - D16Y8)
EJ8 = EX sedan (SOHC VTEC - D16Y8)
EM1 = Si coupe (DOHC VTEC - B16A2)
EN1 = GX sedan (SOHC VTEC CNG - D16B5)

No 6th gen USDM hatchback (EJ6) came with a VTEC engine. They also didn't come with a moonroof or power windows.

If you want a moonroof, power windows and VTEC, those options are on the EX coupe and sedan (EJ8).

cx was the very base model, no a/c, no p/s, unpainted wing, 13" steelies,

Dx's have a/c, power steering was optional, 14" hubcaps,

I'm sure there's a few more things, but basically CX just has much less options than the DX.

A/C and PS were optional on both, though some DX's were shipped with one or both options, depending on the market ... for sales reasons.

Transmissions are the same and neither had tint available. Tint was not a factory option and generally dealer options were for ALL trims (or even models).

For example, the "Si leather" was a dealership option. Meaning the dealer had the cars done by a local business. Those leather seats were available in other trims too, they just wouldn't say "Si" on them.

I must be confusing cx/dx of the 92-95 era with the 96-00.
