interesting dilemma...
well i had originally planned to build my own ls/vtec turbo, with the help of one of my friends who rebuilt his b16 on his own. i have the block(honed/cleaned), crank(balanced), ctr flywheel, b16 head(complete, new stock valvetrain), golden eagle ls/vtec conversion, and my pistons and rods. thats where the dilemma exists, the pistons and rods. i bought some unused but opened pistons off ebay, je 8.5:1 compression and i checked the number on the side of the box and it lined up with the ls pistons i was looking for, so i got them. i ordered TT rods and put them together while the block was in the shop. i went to test fit the pistons and they are too big for the block now im not sure if i should bore my block, sell my rods and pistons to someone looking to do a poor mans type-r (with the ls crank/rods in a gsr block), or get a gsr block and throw my pistons and crank in and put the b16 head on it. any suggestions on what would be best? or are the pistons supposed to be an EXTREMELY tight fit into the cylinders? they are so close to the size of the cylinders. i know that the pistons have to be knocked in when you have the ring compressor on it but im not positive how tight of a fit the piston itself is into the chamber...anyone
and yes i know i should have test fit the pistons before i assembled them but what ya gonna do?

Re: interesting dilemma... (AmbiguousCivic)
take the pistons and the block back to the machine shop and have the guy spec them just to make sure.

yep take them to a machine shop. they will tell you if the size is right. They might even put them in for you if you ask nicely.
I hate putting pistons into cylinders.
