Interesting dicovery...Is this New or Old news?
Well..I was doing my routine oil change today. And as I reached for my OEM honda "Honeywell" filter....Upon inspection..I was like Whoa!!! Did honda convert back to "Filtech??" I just bought 5 OEM honda filters yesterday. If Honda converted back to Filtech, then thats great news!!!!!!!! Hopefully Im not celebrating prematurely.

Wasn't it proven somewhere on here before that SK2 filters aren't any better than every other Honda filter?
Also curious about the Filtech thing though; particularly why it is/would be great news.

Chances are the dealer he got his filters from had some old ones left over or some dealers are still getting the old filters. Either way we go through 30 filters a day here at work and every single one of them is Honeywell except for the S2000 filter.

I guess everyone looking for answers didn't read my post. So i edited it to clear confusion. You can still find some of the Flitech ones but most dealerships are stocking the newer numbers made by Honeywell.

According to my friend who's a tech at the local dealership, all Honda filters will now be the smaller, slightly longer model. These filters have an even better rate of filtration despite their size decrease, and prolong the manufacturers suggested time between oil changes.

My filter is dark blue color, a bit shallower than this one this guy posted and it says HONDA GENUINE PARTS - Made in France... there is nothing else besides that and the instructions how to install it...
the number is: 15400-PH1-F03
Oh now I see it... there is one more thing on it... it says PURFLUX
Now I don't know if it is the manufacturer of the filter or what???

The Filtech filter is better and like it said before it does help with longevity in filter changes and it also helps flow oil through the filter smoother which we all know is better for your car. Someone should cut both filters apart when there used and post so we can all see the difference.

That is the old number, it changes to the new filter number A01 made by Honeywell.

Re: Interesting dicovery...Is this New or Old news? (nsxmatt)
A02 are made by Honeywell. A01 are made by Filtech. Where is everyone getting the proof that the Filtech ones are better?
Here is what most if not all dealerships should have in stock. This is the newest filter.

Ok I am back...to continue my posts..weren't the old Filtech's fatter?? And when they converted to Fram/Honeywell..it went to the skinny filters? Eitherway..i got this Filtech filter..and noticed that it was also skinny. So I thought maybe Honda converted back to the Filtech manufacture. I guess my happiness was premature.

Yes it is proven..look at these pics!
15400-PT7-005 (made in Canada) - (Fram/Honeywell)A little smaller in size and ligher than U.S.
15400-P0H-305 (made in U.S.) - (FILTECH)This has been discontinued by Honda - and I can't think of a good reason they'd do something like that. I noticed cleaner oil and oil pressure seemed to stay higher with this one..
a comparison between the 2 - note how older U.S. filter is all metal
U.S. filter:
Canadian filter (came out a bit blurry but you get an idea.. comparison picture shows whats inside)

yeah I am service writer for a toyota dealership and yeah i noticed this too.
keep in mind many have said a smaller filter increases oil pressure(filteration time) and helps oil activated operations. Take a guess

Re: Interesting dicovery...Is this New or Old news? (Sohc Driver)
what a long drawn out post, honda uses new filters, they all use the same smaller filter,(except for insight and s2k), probably saves them money on only having to make and stock one filter for that many cars. theres no consperecy or hidden reason here
