Vtec is definately a trim level.... its for the DOHC model Vtec (B16) while the SI has the sohc Vtec (d16z6 or d16y8)

If you are happy with a B16 then get a vtec. If you plan on doing a swap I'd say S trim. Also if you're young and pay your own insurance I'd say S model.
I just like how simple the s model is. No cruise control, power steering, power other crap, etc. I bought an OEM trunk deck for my sol, and am buying a vtec model at junk yard for 450 soon which I'll take the power locks/mirrors and the suspension from. Then next summer engine swap, either b18 or k20

LOL , He might be from Japan or somethin, in the USDM DOHC models, the trim level is VTEC, unlike the JDM version SiR...

Depends what you're gonna do with the car... If you are going all out drag, buy an S model as they tend to be cheapest and you can invest more on the motor upgrade and suspension. If you're looking for daily driven with some sport, go for the Del Sol VTEC model. That dohc makes a big difference hauling the del sol's weight vs the sohc...

It always depends on what you're going to do with the car. I think the best all around is the si model, for the options as well as the z6. If you want to upgrade the motor or swap you always can.

Re: Interested in Del sol...but what type? (Revolver)
I would go with the si. Cause you get the z6 which you can have fun with for awhile, or later on swap it out for something else. And as far as which is more reliable, all cars are reliable depending, on how you drive the car and maintain it.

Re: (amy del sol)
As everyone stated, the VTEC models are pretty rare. It is usually cheaper to get an S or SI and swap in a B series motor or Turbo than get the VTEC. (they have a pretty strong resale value cuz they were limited production)
I would reccomend getting the nicest body you can find in your price range and worry about the motor after that. (There are del sol's out there, but they are few and far between)
p.s An S model with a GSR swap is a great *** car!!! IMHO

Re: (diamond sol)
yeah, get an S and swap a b16 or b18, if ur reall ballzy than an h22 and hope you dont bend your car in half. but S is cheapest for insurance, and depending on ur state, ur insurance co dont have to know about ur swap and other **** like suspension, they just want the car vin
