interchangability of b-series pts
Hey all,
my y7 craped out on me so now I am doing a b-series swap in my EK. There is a good chance that I will be dropping in a B16B so what I was wondering is if the starters, alternators, water pumps, axles, timing belts, or any other pts are interchangeable. I tried searching and all I got was a million threads about engine swap interchangabilityb/w honda/acura cars. Any links would be much appreciated.
Also, how reliable are the B16B's given that I will be using this vehicle as an everyday driver?
cheers

Re: interchangability of b-series pts (specificcivic)
you can use itr parts for the water pump, t-belt, alternator, etc, etc.
b16b will be just as reliable as any honda motor.
good luck

what else do you need to know? ANY part you need for a b16b, you can easily get in North America.

If you are asking if D and B parts are interchangable, the answer is no.
Within the B family many parts are interchangable. I have used many Integra parts on my B16a out of necessity and due to parts availability.
-Tensioner, water pump, starter and alternator can be sourced from B16a's (99-00 si, Del Sol VTEC), or B18c5's (ITR).
-I believe the ITR timing belt is a few mm longer, so you'll want to use a B16a TB.
-Cams, valve springs and retainers are also interchangable with ITR components (though if you decide to go B16b, you already have the badass valve train).
-Fly wheels, clutch disks and pressure plates are also interchangable, though not identical (example: ITR has a stiffer pressure plate and is more expensive).
-I'm not entirely sure about EKs, but any Integra axels (except the ITR axels with the 36mm hub nut) will work with an EG/B-series Hybrid. 99-00 si axels will work for you for sure.
-I think many B18c1 (GSR) parts can also be used, but I am not sure, and I don't want to give you any misinformation. Can someone elaborate???
Basically, the 99-00 si would probably be your biggest parts source. When practicle or advantageous, many ITR or Del Sol VTEC parts can also be used.
Hope some of that was helpful...

b16b has the same block height as a b18c. The b16a is 7mm shorter. I believe the b16b uses the same water pump as the itr, so you would use the B18c belt, not b16a.
Your best parts source would be the integra type r. I dont know of any engine parts that the b16a and b16b share.
