hi guys,

i was wondering, will an integra type r (dc2) lsd work with my 99 civic si axles ?
if so, is it worth getting this lsd?
i'm from south africa by the way.

whats the difference?, they both ought to work? unless there is something I dont know. I have jdm itr motor in my ek.

as long as they're b-series axles, they will work. I order LS axles at the autostore.

JDM's like 36mm and USDM's like 32mm or some **** to that effect.

I forgot the #'s exactly, but the JDM ones are larger.

Thought the splines are different too or something to the effect. Don't remember exactly, but there's differences.

I thought the JDM axles were only diffrent on the hub side. I think the diff is still the same size. I could be wrong though.

I think the confusion stems from a misunderstanding over whether the original poster intends to buy the Torsen axle by itself, or a complete gearbox with LSD enclosed.

i was under the impression the trans side of b series axles was alike on all trannies, and the 98 jdm itr had 36 mm hub splines

98-spec JDM axles aare different. However, if he's just buying the Torsen axle unit by itself, that doesn't matter, right?

It'd only matter if he buys a complete transmission.

Am I missing something or being senile?

you are correct if its the whole transmission he is swapping then the drivers side axles are the wrong size assuming a jdm box is used

the 36mm hub matters if the op is using the jdm-itr 5 lug conversion.

if you have the jdm itr trans, you can use your - b series axles out of your 99/00 Si

Yeah that pic you linked says DC5 which is an rsx here in the states. That will not work.

So you need a tranny that accepts 36mm axles and you'll need a 5 lug conversion or something that will suit the 36mm hub.

well there is another way he can make it work, but it might be a pain in the *** to do.

use a 36mm on the inner axle and a 32mm on the outer joint. that way it'll fit both ends. the only thing is, he will have to constantly have to have his axles rebuild when the joints go out versus just picking up new ones at the parts store like everyone else.

I could see that sucking when axle/joint components went out.

not to mention, you will need the bearing to along with the lsd. it would have saved you alot of headaches had you just bought a usdm itr tranny or a eg6 jdm tranny.

both are equipped with lsd and 32mm axles shafts.

tell me about it. i just go and swap mine out at advance when they go bad, at a one time fee.

but if he takes the route suggested, he will have to pay someone to rebuild them everytime, whether he removes the axles himself or not.

i did, he explained that its completely interchangeable. well i guess i'll just have to make this into a project or sell it.
