Default integra LS turbo

ok, so this is what im doing to my hatch. im swapping in a LS motor into my car and turboing it. my plans was to only run 11psi at the max, but my friend is trying to convince me to run up to 17 psi. im wondering if anyone knows how long the ls will last under that much boost. especially since it'll be a stock ls motor. my friend says that his brother has been running his ls turbo for over a year now at around 15 to 17psi. i also know that the compression of a ls motor is low around 8.8:1 i think it was. so i was just seeing if i should get my car tuned for 17psi, or just 11psi for reliability. now, i won't be running 11psi or 17psi daily, i'll be running around 5 or 6 daily and 11psi, or 17psi if tuned for it, for big races.

Just start at 11psi, because you know your gonna turn it up sooner or later that **** is like crack. (psi doesn't really matter)

I always say, as a general rule of thumb, don't go much past 10psi on a stock motor. You're really just asking for problems past that. You may never have a problem with it (well, I take that back...you WILL have a problem sooner or later), but the chances increase the more you push it. It won't be reliable at 17psi, that's for sure. You're basically just waiting for your engine to blow at that point. I wouldn't even enjoy the car with that much boost...I'd be too worried that it would blow. Maybe that's just me...

I say, set it to 10psi. Drive it like that and if you need more, tear into the engine and build it up. Sleeve the block, get forged pistons, forged rods...the whole thing. Then turn it up to 20

my future plans include building the bottom end. but do you guys think i could run say 17psi for one or two runs? i mean i know its pushing it, but sometimes the competition calls for it. usual racing will be set at like 10 or 11. i know its not about psi but cfm. i know at around 10 or 11 it should be alright for a while, but like i said, normal daily driving will be set at 5 or 6, a little street racing set at 10 or 11, and then high hopes and dreams at 16 or 17.

wow you people are crazy. LS's are pretty bulletproof for stock boost, but i'd run 11psi as the "high boost" setting, like for the track. I'm only running 7psi for daily driving and 10psi for high boost (and 12psi for "nignog" lol.. HMT joke) on my stock LS/Vtec. but i have seen LS's boosting 11psi and abused daily. i'm just saying, if it's your daily driver you don't need to be boosting 11psi to get through the yellow light.

if you build it, then i'd say around 16psi, since the stock sensor will only read to 14psi, any higher than 16 and you'd have to get a GM sensor. then i'd say 18psi tops.

i have a LS turbo in my ek hatch, and have JE 9.0:1 pistons, block guard, stock rods, with better rings and bearings. and the max i push is 10.5psi....after 14 psi, ls rods are known for "twisting" under pressure. i've seen ppl run 18psi on a stock ls, but not for long... If you plan on driving it everyday, i wouldn't push it past 11psi, unless you don't plan on driving it for long, or feel like rebuilding it soon...or possibly having to find a new motor. Just trying to help ya out and save ya from future headaches. It's tempting to boost more, but be smart about it.

It all depends on the Tune. Generally stock engine around 10, forged pistons and rods around 15. and Sleeved block all you want. But i have seen more and more boost pushin through stock sleeved motors. Its all in the tune.

why is everyone fixated on a psi number? psi means nothing. different sized turbo's will push different amounts of air. 10psi on a t28 isnt the same as 10psi on a t67.

shoot for a whp number. you can make 300-350whp on a stock internal b18b with the proper tune regardless of psi.

Have you upgraded your axles and cv joints? Because with that much torque it would seem something would have to give.

yeah, i usual forget that its not about psi. but i am looking to hit around the 250 to 325 whp range. trying to see if anyone knows how much an ls motor can handle up too. so there! 250 to 325 whp is my goal.

you can easily get that range with a good tune. mainly just wanna focus on the right amounts of fuel and ignition curves. on my setup with 450cc dsm injectors and msd sci-l ignition, running 10.5psi w/ a garrett t3/t4 with AEM tune on the dyno...i'm putting down 291whp with 221tq on that setup. You'll prolly want bigger injectors if you wanna go past that. I need to with the setup i have now, trying to push that.
