Default Intake SR/CAI

Alrite, so i've been doing about as much searching as i possibly can, and have found out pretty much everything except this...

if i have a type R motor in an EK hatch, would i want to go with a type R intake (i'm guessing the overall size of the intake is different) or a civic intake?

For obvious reasons a CAI will probably have the most issues with fitments... is this why i see mostly Short Rams in swapped cars? or is that just due to throttle response?

Also, if anyone has any opinions on which intake they feel is best for:

-vtec sound (very important!!!) hahaha
-throttle response
-overall performance

P.S. I can not afford mugen lol

if you want throttle response then dont get a CAI. Really i like my overall performance on my comptech icebox intake combo. Only thing is it is not loud like other intakes. It really has good throttle response.

sri - more throttle response, louder
cai - performance

Pick one.

its not loud but i love how it perform. It works like a cold air but you dont have to worry about hydrolocking like any CAI.

alrite, well, i have a lightened flywheel and solid mounts, so how much is the CAI really gunna kill throttle response? because right now i'm using a SOHC short ram off my old motor (haha, it is freaking tiny), wouldn't anything the right diameter be an improvement in throttle response?

if i were you, i would go for the SRI, it cost less, and the difference between the two, power wise, is negligible. When the car is sitting, the CAI will draw cooler air then a SRI, but once the car starts moving, the air in the engine bay cools down as the air circulates through. CAI are cool, i have one and i like it fine. But if i had to do it again, i would probably save the money and get a AEM SRI and call it a day. And hydrolocking is a very rare thing to happen because of a CAI. Search it on here, and there is very few times it has happened. It has to be a huge puddle, your intake has to be completely submerged, and you have to be revving your engine to suck any water, and your car would probably stall from lack of air before it sucked up water. Not saying it cant happen, but pretty unlikely.

i actually have the V2 intake. and AEM makes hybrid intakes for your car too. and which end are you talking about on the intake, the part that has the filter is 3" i think. So I doubt they have a 3" one that goes into manifold
