Re: Intake for my 98 Civic (93b16CivicSi)
First of all there is a big difference between brands to a point, a 30 dollar intake will differ greatly from a 300 dollar AEM intake, mainly because of the Research and Development that goes into making an intake.
Next, short ram and cold air are different because a cold air intake puts the filter down away from the engine bay in a civic (where the old resonator used to be). This is better for performance but increases the chances for hydro-lock. (happened to me). Short Ram intakes put the filter in the engine so as to prevent hydro-lock. Each intake has its bonuses. I run a short ram now because my old b16 got hydro-locked and it sucked. I have a J's racing intake, looks great and makes almost as much HP as an AEM cold air.

Also... don't spend $300 on an aem intake .... the benefits you'll see over a $30 ebay intake are MARGINAL. Just replace the crappy filter on the ebay intake with a K&N (or other aftermarket filter) and you're set.

Re: Intake for my 98 Civic (Aphelion)
$300 dollars is what AEM rates it at, almost all of them sell for 200 and theyre mostly worth it. Also with the other intake I cant really tell from what they said put the pipe looks normal and the filter looks like a APEXi one, if you dont want to spend a lot of money on an intake go for it.

Re: Intake for my 98 Civic (HondaCiv6)
Just one thing to add about my little statement about cold-air vs. short ram. The best intake on the market is made by Mugen because it has the filter in the engine bay but sucks the air away from the heat. Unfortunately it retails for about $700
I guess you get what you pay for

try to find an eBay intake cheaper than that if you can. the piping is basically the same with every other intake. different sizes of course (2.25"-3"). its mostly about the filter. just get a K&N filter and call it a day.
eBay intake - average $30 shipped
K&N filter - $40-$50
