Intake manifold question

Re: Intake manifold question (96-EJ6 B18C)
short runners typically.
the dual stage GS-R manifold uses the long runners on top of the manifold then the butterflies open at whatever rpm, letting air take a straight path to the motor thru the short runners.
and thats why you see the JG manifold, STR, and manifolds like that with stubby little runners and a huge plenum.

Cool thanks. Anyone else? I thought the Type R mani had longer runners than the b16 which would make more top end power? Is this true or not?

Re: Intake manifold question (96-EJ6 B18C)
Long runners have a tendency to smooth out the flow... and add velocity to the incoming air...
It doesn't break down as easy as long good high short good low or vice versus...
It really depends on LOTS of factors... most of which NOONE on here is qualified enough to explain.

Shorter runners tend to be better on the top end and will sacrifice some in the midrange. But it depends what you want to do with the motor too. I love my ITR IM gained a lot from it when I put it on. But if you have stock cams and such, its not really worth upgrading.
