Intake Manifold question
would it make sense to put an aftermarket skunk 2 manifold on any engine without first upgrading the throttle body?
what gains could i expect out of a b16 with an aftermarket intake and a manifold with stock throttle body?
is it imparitive that i buy a bigger throttle body to accommodate for the manifold or can i have a local machine shop mill it out / port it for me?

Re: Intake Manifold question (civic_sir94)
skunk isnt that tight for turbo, but really tight for NA...u dont have to get a bigger tb...stock b16 is what 60mm??err i dont know, but you can get it ported...or get an ITR ported one, or GSR etc...

ooh.. i guess my screen name is a bit misleading... Turbomonkey.. heh.. but really, that's only a far off dream for my midlife crisis. right now im looking to do a "crazy bitch" N/A setup... but what your saying is that i can get away with not buying a new TB and still expirence gains? what kindof HP are we talking about here? 5-15 ish, plus roughly 10 from a Short ram AEM?

Re: Intake Manifold question (22lbGS-R)
dont port match it decreases power because it changes the way the air goes into the head...i was talking to someone at InlinePro and they dynod a head that was not matche, then the same that was, and it lost power..

Re: Intake Manifold question (Nine)
As far as the Stock Air Box vs. Short Ram Intake debate, it might be of interest to note that Jackson Racing's take on it was to use the stock airbox with a high flow filter. Of course that was a couple of years ago when the book came out that had that info in it so their beliefs may have changed. It may have been an angle to sell their brand of filter.
But Im sure they had done more R&D than your average Joe at the time of the printing of their recommendation.
Take it for what it is worth...

Re: Intake Manifold question (turbomonkeyexpress)
Intake Man. make a big diffrence. I have used the skunk 2 on a gsr and it made more mid-range power than I expected. You can see a greater increase if you have more done ie cams header exaust. Thanks Mack

Re: Intake Manifold question (DaMaCk)
so we've established that i will see power even with stock intake and TB.. but should soon upgrade them. stupid question, but do i need any kind of gasket between the manifold and block? would it come in the kit?
