Intake Manifold Install
Is there a proper way to install a intake manifold gasket? I've been getting a leak towards the passenger side of the intake manifold and have replaced it twice with new OEM ones with the second coated with that Permatex Copper seal you could buy at the auto parts store. I am still getting a leak and car is idleing too high. I tried to tighten the nuts harder even though the helms manual only says 17lbs. I've also checked that the surface of both the head and the manifold is smooth. What to do? What to do? Is there like a pattern to tighten the nuts?

Yup! Scraped it all off. I don't know about the shiny shiny part though. Would using fine steel wool hurt?

i donno, i sprayed mine down with a ton of gasket remover, got it down to the bare metal (which was shiny still) and put the new one on, reinstalled my manifold, and haven't had any problems. Are you sure your manifold is leaking?? could be a vacuum leak too.

Re: (toolowsol)
Yeah! I got a vacuum leak. I did what I found here on the web and sprayed it with carb cleaner. The motor kinda stalls/hesitates when I spray at the intake manifold area. I installed a JRSC so I basically changing manifolds but I don't see what the problem is. I'll have to tear it apart this weekend again. . . .
