Default Intake hose to valve cover

Are there any side effects that can happen if you dont have this hose, with nothing else in place of it?

if you are just leaving it open, apart from oil fumes dirtying/sludging up your engine there is a possiblity that stuff can get into your engine when the car is off. Maybe there is more too it than that so wait for a few more responces before going 'commando'

so people run with just a small filter that goes there.

you can put a breather there and cap off the one on the intake.

In other words.. are tou saying to cap off that oem tube that leads into the intake and just put a breather cap?

'cause I bought a cheap *** ebay intake, and the tube that leads to it has no way to fit.

what i am saying is that some people like myself didnt want that extra hose there so we took it off put a breather filter on the valve cover side and just covered the intakes hole. i think thats what was asked.

I'm going to have to post pics of my shitty car and show you all what I mean if I can't figure it all out.

BTW. the intake came with a thin peice of metal.. anyone have a clue whats it's for? The seller has no clue, and the directions didn't make any sense...

DO NOT PUT A BREATHER FILTER ON THERE!

oil coming out of the valve cover will clog the filter and it will be worse than just leaving it open.

Either get a 5/8" hose and run it directly to your intake or hook it up to a vented catch can. Also attach a longer hose to the pcv and attach that to the catch can as well.

There's a blue hose in the picture you posted. You can also see a plug on the intake. Run that blue hose from the intake to the valve cover.

hook that hose up... it sucks all the fumes out of your crank case from blow by and other stuff.. a filter on the valve cover wont do that

wait, so a breather filter on the crank case is a bad thing?

i htought that hose pulled air into the crankcase, not pushed bad air out.

hmmm if more people back that up im taking mine off

btw that thing metal piece is to stop the intake from vibrating/moving around alot.

i just used that front license play holder (the little metal v shape thing) and bent it it works too

the tube connected to the intake produces a sort of vacuum which sucks those bad fumes out of your crank case. it helps your engine run better. it was designed for a reason. i put a catch can between my hose to filter that air. the catch can is clear so i can see when it's dirty and all you do is replace the little filter. you dont have to do that tho... the air is just going to get sucked into your intake and burned up anyway. but you definatly dont want that air build up in your crank case.
