Re: intake, header, exhaust (DELsolsKICK)
It depends on what type of each you get. Usually you can get at least a 3-5 hp gain with an intake. Cold Air intakes you can get even more. It all depends on how your engine stands now-whats done to it. Exhaust can add even more hp and makes your intake more effective. It would be even more effective with some descent headers. Your headed in the right direction though.

A decent intake with a good filter should give you around 5 hp on the top end. Also is the header and an exhaust. A cat-back might be a little bit more.
Try an intake first, it's the easiest item that you can install yourself in less than 15 minutes.
Bomz Racing and AEM make decent intake. Find them on internet.
And don't forget a decent set of platinum spark plugs.

If I were you, I'd save up for something worthwhile, like suspension/braking, turbo, or swap. Unless you want to eventually go all out N/A, I don't see much point to spending nearly $1k on I/H/E and only make a small gain.

Re: intake, header, exhaust (El Breako Dancero)
ok i wasted 1000+ dollers on IHE and trust me its not worth it
if your motor is in decent shape i say buy the greddy kit for the sohc for $1500
get a dsm intercooler and blow off valve and your set
option 1 greddy sohc turbo kit , dsm intercooler and BOV under 2k
option 2 b series motor swap 2500 at least
option 3 drop in k&n used dc header , custom bent exhaust to an ES oval
all that can be found for less than 800 if you shop around
with the money you save from not buying the aem and expensive exhaust you can pick up a nice camshaft as well (i think honda saver makes a cam for the d16z6 zex as well)
do a search and make up your mind 1st
i wasted money on ihe only to realize my car is still slow
now im going turbo and the ihe are usless

its definitly worth the money man. you will feel the difference with header, cai or even short ram and an exhaust.

honestly...its not worth it. once u get hooked into hookin up ur car...ur gonna want to be faster. so i say find ur prioriety first. if u just want to hook up this car for fun, and sell it later, and buy an evo or something after u graduate...then i say...go ahead and buy ihe. but if u plan on keeping ur car for awhile and want to make it real fast....save ur money and wait.

just spray a 50 shot. Best bang for the buck. think about your future plans for the car and DO NOT "settle" for any products. Don't get a Ractive intake cause it's cheap. Spend a little more and get an AEM with a K&N filter, etc.

Re: intake, header, exhaust (DELsolsKICK)
ya, yall have officially confused me, 50% say yes, get the ihe and the other 50% say don't get the ihe. I researched a little, and the ihe would come to about 5 or 600 bux. the motor swap would come to 1500 or 2000 if i'm lucky. i don't know whether to save up, or get the ihe. just tell me what u'd do, and if u have any other ideas to make it faster.

Re: intake, header, exhaust (DELsolsKICK)
what engine do you have? i have a D16Y7 and i have added a intake and exhaust so far and i have noticed a very nice difference. now im adding a header this weekend, so we'll see what that adds to the mix but so far im happy with my SOHC for now.....(now being the key word eh?). and all together the combo has only cost me like 400 bucks or something like that.

Re: intake, header, exhaust (hatchback)
It's all about what your future plans are. What are your goals? Are you planning on keeping this car for a while, or are you just tryin to make it a lil faster for the time being, before you get a new car? Just think bout whatcha want, and go from there.

Re: intake, header, exhaust (DELsolsKICK)
the car was my dad's before, so i have the stock honda del sol s engine. it's slow, and i want to change it. even getting it to 125 will be better, i think it has 110 right now. 125 hp would be equal to the si, and that would be cool w/ me. if i could get more power any way, i would be happy as hell

Re: intake, header, exhaust (Mrfirefox)
Lots of options.. limited cash=Not a good combo..
I would say NO... first off.. even if you do decide to go NA.. most likely you will do a swap later on as we all do. These parts might not be compatable with your new swap. Exhaust is the only universal part that you can get and not have to replace. Intake and header wont be needed if you go FI.. and they wont fit right if you go with a B/H swap. So the Intake and header are a NO NO.. !!
If i were in your shoes.. I would just get a swap. B18B.. as a matter of fact. if you decide to go FI.. the compression would be ideal. if you want VTEC... a LS/VTEC is also a possibility. Just dont jump into something without thinking it out first. Leave yourself open for future advancement. Personally.. I think B18B gives you the most options with minimal amount of headaches. And dont look into magazines for info/help.. H-T is all you need. Here we go by experience and trial and error. Most of the guys here have done it all.. and can save you time and headaches as well as $$ if your willing to listen.
