intake for 99-00 si
has anyone ever just taken the white box off and used the stock air box for an intake?? i wanna know if that will be any good

did you take the white box and black tube out..or did you leave the black tube in and just take the white box out??

i don't think there is anything white.
they all the black.
No it doesn't suck in hot air, its like a ram air intake, but sucks less air than it.
But yes i did notice gains. very little but yes.

there is a white box behind the bumper like he said. it's attached to the snorkel tube thing. i don't think taking that stuff out will have a significant effect on the performance. if anything, you'll get to hear the intake a lot more than before.

they're actually acoustic chamber tuned to attenuate certain sound frequencies. i recently noticed that there is a small resonator on the intake arm that attaches to the throttle body. i never knew that there was a resonator there.
anyway, you could remove the white resonator and the snorkel and make yourself a cold air box by putting some of that piping used for dryers between the bottom to the stock air box and the opening on front bumper.
