Installing Remote Start + CD Receiver
Hi,
I just bought a 2001 Honda Civic LX Sedan and love it! I'm having a remote start and alarm installed on the car. A technician at the company that's going to install it told me that I'll need to give him one of my keys (that won't be returned) for the remote system to work. Is this true? Why would the key be needed?
Second thing, I bought a Pioneer DEH P4600MP CD/MP3/WMA receiver for the same car. Can it be installed with the existing (factory) radio? I don't want to remove the original radio, so what would I need to do to just add the CD Receiver?
Thanks!

Re: Installing Remote Start + CD Receiver (NewHonda01)
1.yea that is right for that car.i am a mecp installer for best buy.that car as a code key and the only way to start it is for the key to be there.so u will need a bypass 555u.what that will do is fool the system to think the key is in the clyinder when it is not.the spare key goes in the bypass and mounted deep in the dash.
2. u can't have both radios.put the pioneer in u will love it

Install the alarm if ya can. That's what I did. Now, I just need to create a bypass circuit for when I forget to leave the car in gear, lol.
Hey, aint it true the 00/01 IT-R's use a coded key as well? I remember getting the ECU for a 00/01 IT-R and not being able to use it because I needed the key that went with it. Plus, I remember something about how my cousin had to pay more for a copy of his IT-R key. Not the same price as for any older/regular Honda/Acura key.

Re: Installing Remote Start + CD Receiver (TallAssFilipino)
yea the 00 and 01 integra have a coded key that will be needed to start the car.u will need the dei bypass 555u for the remote start.and i will not recommend a remote start on a stick car.b/c if u leave it in any gear it will jump.there is no way around that.............i try.the only car that can get away with it is the nissan altmia.there have a netural position switch that sense the car is in netural and with that the car will only start when it is in netural.

Re: Installing Remote Start + CD Receiver (CivicEX96)
they have ones for manual cars, but it is ******* gay.u got to do a sequence to remote start the car.for example.open the door, pull the parking brake, close the door, arm the car, wait 10 sec, then remote start the car..........the car will not start if this is not done
