i have seen people putting the knock sensor where the upper alternator bracket bolts to the block on LS's but i am not sure that will help you or not.

On a B18a block we chose to remove one of the mounting bolts for the alternator bracket and use this as the new location for the Knock sensor.Usinga10.9mmdrillbit,openeduptheholeonthebr acketandtheblock.Thencarefullytaptheholewitha12mmx 1.25threadpitchtap.Besuretocleanuptheshavingsandth enscrewtheknocksensor.

Here you can see the knock sensor in its new location.
not sure if its the same for the D series but it gives you an idea.. BTW this was stolen from C-speed

no no no, no need to drill, there is a stock location on the y7, its just under the intake manifold where the y8 knock sensor is, those diagrams are only for 5g sohc blocks and ls blocks that dont have a stock location

Re: installing a knock sensor on a d16y7??? (Civiclx)
so you say no need for any drilling tapping blah blah.? somewhere i can screw one in and it read acurate? i can figure the wiring out later. just wire it straight to my safc-II since im still running a y7 head/ecu. doesnt search for a KS.. i just want it simply to help with tunning for detonation. thanks.. and keep this going for the perfect answer for future searchers..
