I would check for a vacuum leak. It wont hurt to check your timing but I doubt that is the problem. Also check your fuel system, you might have a clogged fuel filter or something like that.
Check all your sensors, you probably forgot to plug one back in when you were putting the head back on.

what year/code is the head? what year is the car? if you have an obd2 head on an obd1 block/ecu (vice-versa) could be problems there.....or could be fuel problems, running to lean/rich.
