Default Installing brakes need some help...

ok on 92-95 civic's for the install of the rotors and pads this is all i know, let me know what i need to do. im dumb when it comes to brakes.

there 2 bolts on the rotor to hold it on, it that all you have to take off to get the rotor off?
how do you take the caliper and brake pads off?

also if anyone has a few pics they can share to help me out that would be good. im not a good learner unless they have pics or vids.

thanks in advance

It's simple the only problem you might have is getting those 2 screws off the rotor if theyre sized your gonna either need a torch or a impact driver. To take the caliper off there are 2 screws that you need to take off just make sure when you get the caliper off just don't let it hand and put stress on the brake lines.

Yea.... Once you get the caliper off, the pads come out.

Yea like he said the only problem you might run into are those bolts holding the rotors on.

for those 2 holding screws on the rotor, just go down to pepboys and get an impact driver (like 7.99) 2 good whacks with a hammer will get those screws off no problem, i even had a sticking caliper superheat a rotor and 3 good solid whacks with a 5 lb sledge whipped em out no problem.

the hidden trick is you will need a clamper to pull out the piston thing, or else the new pads wont fit in the calipers.

BEFORE YOU CLAMP THEM BACK, make sure you open the lid to the brake fluid reservoir. once you get the first one done, the second should be a piece of cake.

another techinque for getting those rotor screws out is using a phillips screwdriver drill bit. one of those bits you'd put in a drill, one end is a screwdriver, the other end is a hex (1/4"). put that in a 1/4" socket, and use a racheting wrench to turn it. it works for me every time

also watch out for brake fluid spilling over the reservoir when you're c-clamping the caliper pistons back into their bore.

he means you need a c-clamp to press the piston back in. As the pads wear out the piston gets pushed further out. Once you change the pads there will be no room between the pads so that the caliper can slip over the rotor. Before you install the new pads push the piston back in with c-clamp. Like they said, make sure the brake fluid cap (on top of the brake master cylinder) is off. It's a good idea to put some rags around the outside of the brake fluid reservoir to catch any fluid that might drip out.
