Installing ARP headstuds WITHOUT Moly Lube, what torque specs?
Ok got my arp studs in today and hope to get the head on today, but the directions they came with say 70 when using moly lube, and then 85 for using motor oil. And then it says something about doing it to 65 with aluminum heads? My studes did not come with the arp moly lube either, so what should I do it to using 30w motor oil?

Call ARP. I could only tell you the head specs of a GSR head.
Also your going to want to pick up some 30w oil so it goes down smooth instead of dry.

at least use motor oil and call them to get the specs. the lube/oil is used to get accurate torque readings. because when you dont use oil/lube you get torque readings from the friction of the metals and not the real torque of the stud

Yes I got new studs, didnt come with lube, im pretty pissed.
I just called arp and they said 85 ft/lbs with 30w oil. seems a bit high to me?

Probably seems high because there is more friction using the oil than using the lube they're supposed to send, so they compensate for the friction by having you torque them to a higher setting.
I'm sure ARP knows what they're saying, and I'd trust them. Might as well do it to their specs and not have to worry about over/under tightening.

What did they tell you, 85 right? Why do you think thats to high? Think 65 is right? Do 65 and ill be waiting for your "damn ARP the nut came off my head stud and my head jumped help!" thread.

I've got a question about ARPs. Regular studs have the bolt head and the entire "screw" just screws into the block. With ARPs do you screw the bolt portion into the block, put on the head, and then screw nuts in on top?

Are the torque specs any different on used arp studs? What about for an aluminum head?
