installing air conditioning?
I need to install air conditioning in my cx. It never came with it, and that's where my question lies. I've taken off and re-installed a/c in my old dx, but never in a car that wasn't equipped with it from the factory.
What do I need? If I put a button on, does it automatically work?
It's ******* hot in LA.

Re: installing air conditioning? (fowler!)
Since the car never came with A/c you need the a/c box for under the dash with the coil in it. Putting the compressor and what not under the hood is only half the system. The car might already be wired for A/c I know my Del Sol is but I cant be certain on yours.

Re: installing air conditioning? (fowler!)
you're going to need the compressor, condensor , the dryer, all the lines under the hood , a/c box under the dash, the wireharness, the belt ofcourse, and the belt tensioner. And make your sure you get the right year a/c box for under the dash ....92,93 are different than the 94and95.

Re: installing air conditioning? (92b16si)
i just did this for a customer..heres a list to help you guys out....i will do this again in my hatch so pics should be up in the near future.
Parts:
*AC compressor
*AC condenser
*AC condenser fan
*All AC lines, there are 7 lines total. 2 of them are rubber lines that goes from the
compressor to the AC condensor, and the other rubber hose goes to a metal lines
*Box behind the dash (with rubber hose that connect to it that goes to the engine bay
to drain the water.
*AC belt
*the metal bottle looking thing thats in next to the windshield wiper resivior
*AC relay in the engine bay fuse box and misc fuses (if you dont already have them
in the car
*AC button (take off the plastic block off and put an AC button in)
***as far as harnesses goes, you dont need the harness behind the dash, when you go install the box behind the dash, there should be a plug that is taped up in blue, it might look like it is plug to another harness but its not, just remove the tape and plug that harness into the box. In the engine bay, there is a plug for you to plug another harness to it. just go to get this harness at the junk yard and get it. i got it for $5. this harness should have one plug going to the compressor, one to the metal bottle mention above, and one plug for the AC fan. at the end of that harness it will plug straight to the existing plug you already have.***
i might be missing somethings but feel free to ask any question....
