Default installin springs or coilovers.

1st off, Should I go with Eibach springs(pro-kit or sportline?) or look into Coilovers of some brand instead? And are they somewhat easy to install or should I take them to a shop to install and how much that cost?

I need some but I would like not spend more than like 300 (my paycheck) on em' total.

Thanks ppl.

For $300, I'd get a nice pair of springs. Do a search and see what brands people have and recomend.

As for instalation, air tools and a spring compressor make it real easy. It also helps to have two people. If you've never done it before, it may be easier to take it to a shop. I installed mine with a lift, another person (very knowledgable), a spring compressor and air tools. It took about an hour to an hour and 1/2.

Hope that helps.

I would go ahead and get yourself a nice set of springs for the street. Look into some Eibach's or Neuspeed/H&R setups. They seem to be about the best from what I've seen. I have Skunk2 setup on my car and I think I would get springs instead if I had it do over.

Eibach Sportlines
Kyb Adjustable Shocks

Very nice together...and much cheaper than coilovers.
The sportlines are just right...just a little gap, maybe 5-10mm.
The pro-kit will have a little more gap.

Eibach springs are not that cheap. I picked up my Skunk C/O's ($270 from Paisley) for almost the same price as the Eibachs ($245) i had before them. If you're set on getting springs ,go with some Neuspeeds, Eibach has too many quality control issues. My car sat 1 1/2" higher then the others on one corner when i had Eibachs. Just my $.02.........

SamDawg, if I were you I would have a little patience and wait for your next paycheck. To be honest, you're not gonna get a setup you like for $300. If that's your price ceiling right now, coilovers are completely out of the question. You can get some nice springs for that, but your ride will be crap unless you replace the shocks as well (easily an extra $400+).

Trust me, suspension is not something you want to scrimp on, if you rush your choice and get something lower quality you will regret it every time you drive your car.

If you aren't doing any autocrossing, I think a set of springs will do you nicely. I picked up a used set of Eibach Sportlines for 100 bucks. They are on stock struts right now, rides good, they don't have a huge spring rate or extreme drop so the shocks will be ok, although I plan on getting some koni yellows.
I say go ahead, purchase some springs, sportlines if you want a little more drop and softer ride, prokits less drop, firmer ride. I installed them myself, really pretty easy, I suggest purchasing extra bolts from the dealer incase you break a rusted bolt. Get and alighment, save up and get some shocks later.
If you get "race" springs, hold off on installing until you get good shocks or your ride will be horrid.
