Installed Tach know having problems
I just installed an Autometer tach last night and everything went smooth. This morning when i went to leave I notesed that my speedo was not working. Then my check engine light came on,also my secondaries don't open.Im not sure if v-tec kicks in at all.
I figured out that the reason my speedo wasn't working is because i lost the little metal pin that goes from the speed cable to the cluster so Im unable to hook that up.
Would not having the speed cable hooked up make my check engine light come on a few minuets after driving,It doesn't come on if the car just sits at idle.
Also would this make my v-tec/secondaries not kick in/open up. Thanks for any Help

I'm pretty sure vtec only kicks in after a certain speed. If you broke the assembly before where the engine gets its info for how fast the car is going, then yes. If you didn't change anything other than installing the tach.. and you lost a part.. then yeah, I would say your problems are most likely caused by that. Go fix what ya broke

it would make the cel go on after your driving because it spins the while you drive. if you are only idling it wont move at all. the cluster that is

Re: Installed Tach know having problems (hatchi)
yeah your cel is going to come on every time you drive but when you stop. the speedo is reading right then so it would go off but vtec kicks in at a certain rpm if the motor is still reading the right rpms then it should still be kicking in. but you should be able to tell by the sound that it is or it isnt kicking in.

There is a safety feature that v-tec only kicks in if your car is going over 20 mph (i think) so if speedo is not working then v-tec will not kick in and yes that will make your light kick on
