Default Installed Apexi WS2 - Now car smells like it's on fire

So I just installed a brand new Apexi WS2 catback today. Sounds good, but it smells absolutely awful - like burning paper. Really, just like burning paper.

I'm absolutely sure I got all the wrapping off and put the gaskets in right. Is this normal for a new exhaust?

I was thinking it might be because I had to pound the hell out of my cat to get the bolts out - couldn't save them, they were rusted globs of metal. So once I cut the nuts off, I had to beat on the bolts for about 20 minutes with a sledge, and shook a whole bunch of crap loose. Could this be where my smell is coming from - something in the cat burning off? It's freaking strange.

Maybe it's some kind of lacquer or a packaging or something. Give it a while to burn off, and check to make sure nothing actually is on fire.

Its normal, it took some time for my exhaust to stop smelling. (100 miles or so)

Literally lol...I pulled over with concern when I first installed my WS 2 exhaust w/ new cat when it smelled like burning paper - exactly like burning paper. I was like WHF is that?!?

No worries, drive it. It's fine.

haha, maybe I'll make one. I was a little concerned when I bought it because I HATE ricey exhaust, and didn't want anything loud, but I'm super impressed with how it sounds. Everyone wasn't kidding when they said this one was quiet - it's really only slightly louder than stock, even under throttle.

Thanks for the responses on the burning thing. I won't worry unless it doesn't go away.

Has anyone had problems with fitment? Right now, mine's rattling against the gas tank. This is on a 2000 civic with a B18C1 and a stock EX cat with the front flange turned and rewelded to mate up to the gsr header. Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get any more adjustment out of the cat bolts and try to move it back some.
