Default Installed: 15/16th Master Cylinder on my EJ1 (results)

All I can say is WOW!!! Braking Power is like no other just by installing this thing...I am running EG6 brake conversion all around and EARL'S stainless steel lines. The break feel is so much better, the pedal has hardly any travel at all before the brakes starts to engage when the brake pedal is depressed...

Overall braking performance is so much better...I'm not running a 4040 prop valve yet...but i'm pretty damn sure my brakes would be a hell of a lot better when I install one this weekend...

BTW: I was previously running an EG6 7/8 master cylinder b4

I noticed one thing that kinda bugged me though...THE BRAKES ARE SO EASY TO LOCK NOW!!! So I guess I have to relearn how to modulate my brakes once again...

hey, interesting topic, could you post more specific info about the setup you have? like which 15/16th mc you got, what rotor size, calipers, etc.

I'll be doing brake upgrades soon and would like to gather as much info as I can.thanks!

btw, will the mc you're using bolt on to my 92 civic dx hatch? do i have to switch the booster? any line bending/reflaring?

thanks agian!

Well the Master Cylinder came off of a UKDM EG9 with ABS, now it doesn't really matter if the car that it came with had ABS or not (as far as I know), It'll bolt right onto your EG hatch. Since mine came off an EG9, it came with a bigger brake booster and I had to a little bit of line cutting and reflaring on one of the fittings to make the M/C work. If you don't wanna come accross this problem there's another alternative to this, You can run to your local AutoZone and pick up a master cylinder from a 1991 Civic EX 4 Door. Yes it has to be that speicific because the M/C from this car is a direct bolt on to your EG without any line bending/reflaring...

As for my caliper/rotor size, they're just your typical GSR size brakes (10.25" rotors), nothing too fancy, I am also running a set of EARL's Stainless Brake Lines (these are a must if you're doing an upgrade, if you want to get the full benefit from your upgrade), and lastly I am running a set of EBC green stuff brake pads (they're quite okay, but they're not the best). Oh and one more thing go get a 4040 prop valve too when you're doing your upgrade...it's a must also when doing rear disc brake conversion. You can either get one from the DA or DC integras without ABS...

Hope this helps

the 91 ex 4door is 15/16th right? can i get a bigger booster with it or do i have to use my stock 92 dx one? will there be an improvement with that mc on stock booster? does the 91 ex 4door have a bigger booster as well or is it the same as the 92 civic dx?

are the rotors the same that come on the 92-95 ex/si's?

thanks for info man! Great stuff!

yep it's a 15/16th you can get a bigger booster from a 92-95 EX and also EX rotors/calipers are bigger than the EG Si's

ok, so a 92-95 EX booster will work with a 90 4 door sedan mc? if so, i'll just get this setup and forget about the ITR for the moment...do i need to bend/reflare lines with this setup? remember, this is on a 92 civic dx hatch

ITR parts are hard to come by and much more expensive.. not sure if the price to functionality ratio is worth it...

in order to place the 92-95 ex rotors/calipers, what size rims do i need?

can i replace my stock rotors with the EX rotors or will i need the EX knuckle as well? what else will i need?

if you get the 1991 civic EX 4 door M/C you don't need to reflare or bend your lines
As for the wheel size, if you're installing the EX calipers/rotors the smallest rim you can use is 14"

Yeah you have to get the whole knuckle assembly when upgrading your brakes to that of the EX civic...cuz your stock knuckles won't accept the EX calipers correctly....

hope this helps

here is my setup, integra rs booster and mc. bolts right in even the lines because the car doesn't have abs, 4040 proportioning valve switched brackets to the civic so it will bolt correctly to the firewall, ex front knuckle, del sol rear disk (reused my trailing arms because del sol was bent). goodridge brake lines. my car is a complete mut. i got parts from all kinds of cars. down to my sway bars. this is on a 94 eg.
