Installation: (2) EK Skunk2 Tie Bar and OmniPower LCA (w/pics)
Here is my very first write up, I hope i provided enough information to make it easy for the people who have yet to do such installation.
We installed a Skunk2 Tie bar to my sisters car and
OmniPower LCA to my brothers car....
Tie Bar took about 20-30 minutes to install
LCA took about 20-30 minutes to install
Difficulty of Installation- Not too hard just a couple of bolts and you are free
The process of Installation is pretty much the same
Praise on the tie bar- It came with new bolts
Bad thing about the LCA- seems like you have both side.. so the omnipower sticker is on the other side...
Other than that both products seems to be a good stuff...
Red EK Tie bar installation first.
Tools Needed:
Ratchet
Socket(s) 14 and 17mm
Open end Wrench 14, 17, and 19mm
Rubber Mallet
Jackstand
Jack
Skunk2
(1) Jack the car up on its respective mounting points and secure it with a jackstand on each side.
(2) Take 14mm socket and remove the bolt(s) from rear subframe. Use the rubber mallet to pound the subrframe and to loosen up the bolt. You may also move the wheel on a upward and downward motion.
(3) Install Tie bar and use the bolts provided. The stock bolt was a 14mm socket, the bolts that is provided with the tie bar is a 17mm socket.
(4) Follow the same route for step (2 and 3) and install the other side.
(5) Tighten the hex nut with a 19mm wrench
The end... Now onto the LCA installation
Tools Needed:
Ratchet
Socket 14 mm
Open end Wrench 14mm
Rubber Mallet
Jackstand
Jack
OmniPower
(1) Jack the car up on its respective mounting points and secure it with a jackstand on each side.
(2) Take 14mm socket and remove the bolt(s) from rear subframe, shock and the one under the brake(forgot waht it is called). Use the rubber mallet to pound the subrframe and to loosen up the bolt. You may also move the wheel on a upward and downward motion. (3 total bolts are removed REUSE).
(3) Install the LCA and reuse the bolts from the old LCA. When reinstalling the LCA you might need another jack to jack up the LCA since the shocks will be too hard to push by yourself unless you are some super buff dude...(sorry no pics). You can also use a screw driver to line up the holes
(4) Follow the same route for step (2 and 3) and install the other side.
Heres a comparison pic of the LCA... as you can tell it is a BIG difference... I have not yet test drove the car with it on... and even if I did i am not sure how to tell what the difference should make...
Thanks for your time... feel free to ask anything....
