Default Input Bearing d16y7 any advice??

So i thought my throw out bearing was bad, me and my brother pulled the transmission and replaced the throwout, and installed a few energy suspension parts.. etc.. turned on the car and guess what... that horrible fkin noise came back... So it pretty much has to be the input bearing yeah??... My brother has told me that i pretty much need a new transmission or wait till this one gives... any opinion?! its just a d series y7 transmission..

so exactly what is the car doing? when at idle in neutral it knocks then when you depress the clutch it goes away? Or when you are driving and the car fly out of gear and jumps and bangs while in gear? More infor would be great. The best thing i can say is yank it out again and grab onto the shaft the clutch slides onto and try and wiggle it.If its loose im pretty sure its only like 25 $ for the part. But its a d series gearbox and you can find them on the beach lol.I thought the input bearing was the one in the middle of the flywheel. If thats gone theyre all thesame civic or teg. easy fix as well

i'll assume you've read one or more of the many threads on the symptoms and sounds of a bad ISB.

no need for a new trans. if the ISB noise is the only problem. you're only looking at about $35-40 for the bearing, seal and a few quarts of MTF. you already know how to do half the labor- removing and reinstalling the transmission. with a good service/repair manual handy and a clean work space cracking the case open and replacing the worn bearing is no big deal. just pay close attention to how it comes appart (especially the shift linkage) so reassembly goes quickly.

i used a $10 bearing puller from Harbour Freight to remove the old bearing. then carefully installed the new one with a rubber mallet and a 2X4. also you'll need some hondabond or gray RTV to reseal the case. check the transmission/drivetrain subforum for detailed write ups with pics.

great link man.So the mainshaft where the clutch spline goes on was loose on my mothers car.So loose that it blew the seal and oil sprayed all over a new clutch kit.Mothers car used to fly out gear in 2/3 i believe and at a lower rpm in 3/4th sometimes the car used to jump and buck.It was horrible. So that was the root of thier problem? The "isb"?? has anyone experienced something similar to that.I am j/w and not jacking your thread btw. They got another gearbox for $100 and the old one is there in the garage. Someone should create a faq and what has after happening to their cars gearbox/trans!!

its okay, we all need to know stuff ha.. and as for the car its making the noise when the clutch isnt engaged... so it'll make the sound in neutral but when i put in the clutch it will go away, as well as when im driving in 1st gear its fine till i hit around 3k rpm and then it whines really loud *sounds like vtec cross over almost lol*.. and you can hear it kinda hum through out all the gears in higher rpm, and i just replaced the Throwout.. so i figured the ISB is the problem.
