the infamous idle problem :(
I am experiencing the age old idle problem and have beaten it with a stick trying to fix it. The car is a 95 del sol vtec (dohc, not si), with an obd1 b18c. ecu is the jdm p72. The idle fluctuates from ~1000-2000 and have no CEL's.
What I have tried:
-FITV: This idle problem happened to me 2 times. The first time it was this. Tightened it up and walaa it fixed the idle... not so lucky the second time
-IACV: Cleaned this out numerous times. Also it is the correct plug and not the -EVAP plugged into it.
-Vacuum Lines/Leaks: I've looked 9845459 times and haven't found any leaks or lines runnning in the wrong places. I've replaced the TB/IM gaskets recently too. I cleaned the TB thoroughly before putting it back on.
-TPS: At closed I was getting .52V which i figured was close enough. WOT it was 4.7 or something.
-Bled Coolant
-Reset ECU
-I've probably tried other stuff but can't think of any at the top of my head.
The only thing I can think of that I haven't tried is trying a different IACV but they are expensive Anyone know if they are the same from B18c-r motors? My buddy has one that I might pull off for a bit. I may also try and replacing my IM gasket again because when I first replaced it, it was a few months ago. I've sprayed carb cleaner around it but nothing changed. Hard to spray along the bottom though.
Also when plugging the top hole(IACV) in the TB, the idle goes normal. So I'm pretty sure this points to a faulty IACV at this point. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm stumped aside from trying a different IACV when I get my hands on one :p
..Thanks..

Re: the infamous idle problem :(
I tried a different IACV and got the same results. Anyone have any other suggestions on why my idle is still hunting, from 1k-2k rpms? I really don't think its the intake manifold gasket considering I replaced it a few months ago. I sprayed carb cleaner along most of the possible leak areas and on the entire vacuum lines. The only place I haven't sprayed would be under the IM.

what's to say your fitv isn't broken? To me, it feels like the fitv would be the would that would go bad considering it's made of plastic and likes to become loose.
