Default The infamous 3rd gear grind and its fix

I searched and I only found this



is that the ONLY way to fix it?I mean goddamn,is there a cheaper alternative that will lessen the grind or something?

You can try changing your fluid, but if there's damage to the gears themselves or the synchros, you're stuck having to replace one or both. Sucks, but that's how it goes.

It'll be far cheaper to just buy a transmission that doesn't grind

Amsoil/gm syncromesh will cover the problem up.

Synchromesh will help if its not too bad.. I tried it, but it was too late. I ended up buying a fresh B16 trans. BTW, when they cracked open my old transmission, third gear was in about 10 peices.. but maybe the fluid will help you.

Its not going to bother you driving around knowing that your tranny has a part needing replaced and it could go out anytime? I say replace it, dont cover it up with synchromesh.

This is the reason i bought a brand new type r trans. I know it was probably cheaper to fix but hey now i got lsd.

From what i have heard, that Amsoil is the shizzle nitch! But hell its worth a try.

3, just do a drain and fill. Only like 2.5 quarts comes out.

Synchromesh didn't help my tranny at all. It still sounds like I have straight-cut gears but I don't have the money to fix it
