The infamous 3rd gear grind and its fix
I searched and I only found this
is that the ONLY way to fix it?I mean goddamn,is there a cheaper alternative that will lessen the grind or something?

Unceasing Measure
You can try changing your fluid, but if there's damage to the gears themselves or the synchros, you're stuck having to replace one or both. Sucks, but that's how it goes.
It'll be far cheaper to just buy a transmission that doesn't grind

Re: (cambopheonix56)
Synchromesh will help if its not too bad.. I tried it, but it was too late. I ended up buying a fresh B16 trans. BTW, when they cracked open my old transmission, third gear was in about 10 peices.. but maybe the fluid will help you.

Its not going to bother you driving around knowing that your tranny has a part needing replaced and it could go out anytime? I say replace it, dont cover it up with synchromesh.
