Increasing Compression by skimming the head on b16a2????
Hi i am about to install Sir2 cams in my car as i want some extra power without increasing revs and keeping honda oem parts, i understand that the compression is higher on the sir2 compared to the non jdm b16, would skimmin the head be safe? and how much do i get it skimmed, i want it to be safe and get a flywheel hp gain of about 10hp at least with the cams

Re: Increasing Compression by skimming the head on b16a2???? (B16B)
yeh got a non jdm b16a2 158 hp, and replacing cams with sir2 ones 167hp which i got for £35 which is about $60, i was told the compression is slightly higher on sir2 so i will install a thinner head gasket or skim the head to get the full 10-12 hp gain. I am only doing this as my Head Gasket needs replacing anyways.
Need ideas on how much to mill head or what head gasket to go for?? I dont like installing thing that are not really oem honda unless mugen or spoon. I also dont really want to raise rev limit as i will have to mess with ecu.

i understand this, the sir2 cams and the apparantley higher cr from the pistons on ther jdm motor get the extra 9hp, i want about 12hp from installing the sir2 cams and a mugen gasket on a non jdm b16. I dont want to go into bottom end
is this likely?

What you are trying to say is if you put the headgasket and 2nd gen cams in you will increase your horsepower to a stock JDM 2nd gen b16? That would prob work yeah.. depends on layer of head gasket if its 1 layer it will prob be a little higher.. US 10.2-1... jdm 10.4-1. Prob about a 10 hp change.. Yeah go for it why not? I swapped my 2nd gen cams with my brothers 1st gen jdm and made good difference.. not insane just a we amount.

I understand you. Im sorry it doesnt work like that. The difference will be too little that you wont even feel it. If your not done yet with the basic I/H/E just do that instead.

Sir2 engine works much better with jap 98 Octane Fuel and you can see a clear difference from a non jdm b16. I have already done I/H/E managed 178hp with 98 Octane hoping for 185hp with 98 Octane. Should make a good difference over 80mph+, i understand its not going to make me quicker off the lights
