immobilzer?
just curious when honda started putting in immobilzers on the ignition? im askin for a friend of mine. hes got a stock 2001 civic coupe(same body as 99-00 si's,ek?). for some weird reason when he installed a new headunit the car started stalling on him(auto. tranny). he was told by honda that he needed to bypass some wiring in order for th car to run properly. can anyone clear this up to me? to my knowledge the immobilzers in ep3/dc5's aren't hooked up the radio, and the following civic coupe design(em1) was the first too get the immobilzer.

for the record, 2001 was the first year of the EP/EM design.
I know that '00 was the first year for the Teg immobilizer. But the immobilizer can't be the issue, it doesn't allow the car to start if something is messed up with it.
I don't have the manual for the 01 civic or I'd help you out. sorry

Re: (Relic1)
the car is an ek.but thanks for the info on the immobilizer, but is it the same as those in the ep/dc5, which require the chip in the key to start the motor?
