I'm sure that I have thrown one of my pistons, just need a lil help
i have a eg civic with the stock 1.6 and i think that i have thrown a piston. it still runs and is drivable but sumtimes when i come to a stop, the car cuts off. so she has just been in the garage until i can come up with a solution other than swapping the motor. i've alredy searched for this topic but no results. if i take off the top block will i be able to just replace the piston or will i have to do all 4 or what do ya'll suggest. Keep in mind that this is temporary, i have a ls motor that i'm building on the side.
Thanx in advance

you probably "spun a bearing"...and if by throwing a piston you mean throwing a rod, or sending it through the sleeve/block...this obviously hasnt happened yet, but it sounds as if it will soon, i wouldn't drive the car because eventually its gonna grenade its self. But as for the whole "changing a piston" the piston isnt your problem, its your bearings on the crankshaft, the ones you've spun. In order to fix this you pretty much need to do a complete engine overhaul, which means rebuilding the whole engine, getting the crank respun...oversized bearings...as cheap as single slams are you'd be better off buying just a longblock single cam from hmotorsonline.com or just putting in your LS.
