i got my 93 recently and when the weather breaks i want to do stuff to it. But when i go to like car domain, everything looks the same. Someone give me idea of what to do for apprearance at first. I want my civic to stand out but not like another ricer. They just all look the same with the damn clear tailights and rims. What should i do about them? I know some of you are goin to say leave it stock but i dont like em and I was just wonderin if anyone had any ideas. Thanks, and for god's sake don't flame me. The speed part is coming along just fine.

be creative to your car it's yours... i personally like the wings west rs kit ...... but mine is now stock with cf lip and wing ... rs kit is the only add on i would get over all the kits out there.

You'd probably get more answers in the appearance forum.......BUT

There is really very little you can do with a civic to make it stand out. Usually it takes money and some creativity but I can gurantee you that it will still resemble something else.

Not to discourage you on your quest for originality.

I'd say about 90% of the guys in this forum's appearance mods are no less then 16's for wheels, maybe a carbon fiber/ABS lip, sometimes a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber duckbill an exhaust, and some Black, Gunmetal or OEM wheels.


You may find a few 5 lug conversions here or there, definently some swaps, and some turbo's. Cars with and without full interior.

Some custom colors or aftermarket colors, fresh paint job or shitbox looking for the sleeper look (Or lack of funds )

Do what you like. To people who "don't get it" it will look similar to every civic on the road. To those "in the know" they will give credit where credit is due.

Really the only way to be different is to keep you car completely stock (From ride height to wheels to exhaust). Those cars that look stock in every aspect are becoming very scarce.

just do what you like to your car that makes YOU happy, don't worry about pleasing anyone else, god knows theres always a heckler to call someones car "rice" or whatever

i suggest that you really sit down and think about it.

IMO, it is your car and you can do whatever with it, as long as you like it and makes you happy.

bodydrop and airbag it so it lays the wrinkle seams on the pavement. slap some nice 16 inch wheels on it, use a tucked-up muffler and a turndown instead of a fartpipe for your exhaust. spray your car a color that most people have never seen, much less seen on a civic (think dark chocolate brown or lavender). use a miata's drivetrain and convert to RWD.

those are some of the only things I can think of that I haven't seen on civics. do all of the above and you'll have an original car, i promise.

In my opinion there is only so much you can do....the market for civics is huge and a lot of stuff has already been done with them. There are a million bodykits rims exhausts etc. so there isn't a whole lot of room for originality unless you got a lot of time, money, and creativity. Civics are so popular and common that it's tough being original.

edit: I just read the other posts and like those people said, just do what you want and what you think will look nice and make you happy. Trying to be original for the sake of being original prolly isn't going to make you happy.

Like many others said, theres sooo much you can do to civics BUT you WILL resemble someone's car in one way or another. The best thing IN MY OPINION is just put on whatever YOU want / like, b/c at the end of the day YOU gotta drive, and YOU gota stick with it. I myself am NOT into big body kits, or big wheel. im thinking of slapping some 16" rota slips, get the Si Grill, Si Spoiler(maybe), a nice lip and then start saving for engine swap or turbo for the sohc AND a nice suspension setup. HOPE THATS HELP

do a front and rear end conversion of some other off the wall car. not like an integra, is300 or any other common conversion but a really classy conversion

Convertible civic has been done....twice.

Chop Top Civic has also been done (Say an actual car not Signals dragster).

IMO there is no such thing as a classy conversion unless its the japanese version of your car (IE: USDM Integra with a JDM front on it)

Or a S13 or S14 Silvia and a S15 Front.

Otherwise anything else on your hatch is ridiculous. My opinion of course. I kinda don't mind the JDM Integra front on civic's but it still doesn't look right to me.

look toward european styles they have not really be seen here in the US yet, there is a lot of variety pick up a max power next time your in barnes and noble, check it out very different

My advice is to you just do what you like. There is allways going to be someone who isn't going to like it. But it is you that has to drive the car. Personally I like the dropped, body kit, rollin on 17's look. But that is just me. IMO go look through about 50 magazines and get a feel for each kind of civic that you could make (ie-jdm, show, sleeper, ricer, etc) and just take pieces of each car that you like and add it all together. That is a damn good point! Do what you want.

I'm into the stock look, I love the JDM look only in some areas, esp. lighting! I don't like plain, heavy, or big wheels, and I like something clean and simple. I fell in love with white hatch backs, from their I just searched around for something that appeals to me. Once I got the car I know what I want, and what I don't want. Basicly I'm much more into performance. So that was my starting point. Good luck, be creative, but remember to stay within the limits.

I'm liking the RWD civic idea.. as far as looks tho it really depnds on what you like. alot of guys here on honda-tech would hate my car cuz they will say it looks like rice... when in fact every body part I got is from Japan.. so to each there own.. just decide for yourself... don't look to other people to make yourself happy..
