Re: im new... (94gsrex)
11 years old and although a DOHC, it’s not-Vtec.
If the body’s all straight and you like it, take it.
I think 4K is kind of steep though.

Welcome to H-T.
READ and RESPECT the Forum Rules and Guidelines.
always remember to Search before posting/asking questions.
keep yourself updated with the Stickies (first 3-4 threads).
clean title? is the swap done cleanly? how's the body (rust, dents/damage, etc...)?
sounds good if those are good.

Re: im new... (94gsrex)
GO WITH THE CIVIC, there cheaper and easier to get stuff for, $4000 is a little steep unless it is in damn good shape, but even then i'd only give like $3-3500 for it, but this is all just my opinion. Good luck in whatever you choose though and welcome to HT.

Re: im new... (94gsrex)
I suppose if you get it a little cheaper, it could make for a nice LS-Vtec project. Otherwise, it’s only around 140hp with not too much torque to spare.

B18B's have just as much torque as a B18C.

well, if its clean title, then its good. if you can talk the seller down lower, then thats always better. goodluck.

Are you sure? Because if it's true, then it's pathetic.
Below is a dyno sheet for a B18B (112fpt)

Re: im new... (turbo_EG_250hp)
Make sure the car has a clean title... you said the guy has a body shop?
Many time body shop people will fix a salvage titled car and sell it for the same price of a clean titled car...
If it's clean make an offer...
4k isn't that much around here... Here in Portland civics are selling for unheard of prices, right now in the autotrader there is a riced out 95 civic with a b18b with a asking price of 11k!
Most EGs in the autotrader are 4500+ with tons of miles on them... the market is crazy around here!

Re: im new... (turbo_EG_250hp)
thats to the wheels not at the flywheel. . for 4k thats not bad. the b18 swap is usally around 2k. so 2k for the swap 2k for the car. good deal

Re: im new... (d16rice)
sorry to hijack your thread 94gsrex.
to you d16rice, and others that don't know:
flywheel numbers:
B18C1 DOHC VTEC - 170hp 128lbs/ft tq
B18B1 DOHC non-VTEC - 140hp 127lbs/ft tq
a person with enough common sense will know that 1lb/ft tq will not make much of a difference.
d16rice pointed out the stock dyno numbers to the wheels for a B18B1
now here are dyno numbers for a B18C1. not stock, but just bolt-ons (I/E).

oh, and keep in mind that every dyno and/or conditions are different.
just pointing this out, so nobody gets confused.

Re: im new... (94gsrex)
4000g's aint too bad but if he said obo bring it down a couple hundred. Look at the car first find any reason to bring the price down. Interior/ exterior problems just check it out. Also how long has it been for sale that can tell if its worth buying
95 eg soon to be with a jspec b16 when i come back from fL

It’s all good, I still like my d16 better.
D16 on a bottle is pulling 178hp and 200fpt.
Oh yeah, where are my manners, WELCOME!
