Default I'm looking to Turbo Charge a 98 Civic EX Coupe W/ stock SOHC engine.. Need Suggestions!

Hey guys, I have a few bucks to spare and I'm looking to turbo charge a 98 civic ex coupe just for laughs. Anyways I am looking for a good turbo set, but not pay a rediculous amount. Something that will sound nice, and give me a decent amount of HP. My engine has no upgrades (I dont plan on doing any upgrades unless I have to) so I'd be running a low amount of boost; roughly around 6 pds i think, but then again I dunno! Please let me know what you would do if you were going turbo charge a sohc 98 civic, what kit, where you can get it, how much boost to run etc. Remember the whole engine is stock! Thanks!

well these are your options:

-Greddy Sohc kit=1500(no intercooler)
-apexi kit=1700-2000(no intercooler, but has a ball bearing, very nice)
-drag kit=2500-3000(with intercooler, t3/t4 i believe, i dont recommend)
-homemade turbo=less than 1000(try www.homemadeturbo.com pretty good info on building a turbo from junkyard parts)

ill be boostin my SOHC on the greddy kit real soon...if yer interested in this kit then give hondadriven a holler....

Yea I was looking @ Gredy's Turbo kits, I think that may be the way to go. Running 9.5 Ppds would put me @ how much hp? Am I going to be looking @ alot of problems later on, anything recommended I should replace? The more info the better!

Where Could I get this Greddy Turbo kit, for a good price, and would it include everything I need to install it and go? Anything else I'm gonna need etc?

you should also do fuel upgrades as well (up the cc's in your injectors, fuel rail, fuel pump, etc.)
you also might want to beef your motor/tranny up as well
good luck

also, there's a ton of info in the force induction forum as well

Let me know what happens. I also wanted to do that, but I heard you have to change the pistons and rods, and do alot of other expensive engine mods. Let me know??

just my .02 , Greddy has a new EO # for their blue box kits. However they do not apply to any other year than JUST the 92-95. Some good news though is that Greddy will be releasing later this year a kit for the 96-up SOHC's that will have a slightly beefed up turbo and components, WITH it's own EO#. Price will prolly be a bit higher too. More than likely this kit is being produced in response to the D16Y8 kit that will be coming out from Edelbrock, which is pretty complete with a Tial BO and Spearco ovesized intercooler. Price on the Edelbrock kit will most likely top the $3000 mark...

Build your own set up. Get exactly what you want. Every kit has a negatives and positives. Get exactly what you want for your application.

your stock pistons should be good, if you want to upgrade the rods cheaply get some integra ls rods and you can have them machined out to fit (they are the same length)

if your kit does not come with fuel management, that should be your first priority.
