I'm kinda torn between N/A or F/I
Hi guys!
As the title says I'm a little confused on which route I wanna go with my soon to be Del Sol. My last car was a 400whp 944 turbo and I spun a bearing on the dyno after a year of bulding it. As you probably already know Porsche parts are EXPENSIVE! Even if they were for the bastard child 944. So now I'm looking for something to build and I've decided to go with something completely different, a Del Sol. Don't ask me why lol, I've just always had a soft spot for them.
So, now that you have my life story and we've shared some good times and some bad times, I'm asking for your input.
I'm not sure if I should go with a "mild" turbo setup (like 220whp) on stock engine and still have it be somewhat reliable. Or I kinda wanna go with a h22 swap (h2b) with 4-1 header, CAI, maybe cams, and exhaust. Now before you preach to me about the 30 extra pounds the h22 brings, It's really not a huge deal to me. Basically I'm just trying to have decent power without spending a ****-ton of money and still keep it somewhat reliable.
Sooooooo, what do you think?

An N/A setup will cost a lot of money to reach a certain goal compared to a turbo setup with the same goal. Turbo can be reliable as long as it was installed correctly with the proper fuel manangement.
If you are looking for 220whp, it will take a lot of money N/A wise, while a turbo setup can easily reach that.

thats flywheel, you want fwhp, which comes with a little less, but loik at the cost of the h2b kit, h22 and b16 trans, mounts, ecu for the h22 harness, etc man the h swaps get pretty expensive if you pieace together a dseries turbo (200 whp easy) itll be easier and cheaper

On an H22?????? You could damn near achieve that with bolt-ons/tuning. throw some high compression pistons in the mix and for a nice setup. my .02

H22's are good motors. An H22 with a CAI, RMF or SMSP header, exhaust, and some Type S pistons you should see somewhere between 200-220 whp. This will be expensive.....
Used Greddy turbo kit + tuning = 220 whp for significantly less.......

I'm a personal fan of forced induction and I feel that they can be very reliable when done right with good quality parts..as you'll see a lot on this site, the TUNE is what makes everything reliable. Personally...I think 220 is a realistic goal and can be done safely on a stock motor with stock internals. Good luck on your build though and keep us updated with pics!

if you wana go N/A go with the K-series. if not then just get a turbo Kit. i like turbos so i would go witht the turbo. its just more kool to see a turbo kit inside of your engine bay then if it was just a plain engine. turst me even if you just turbo your D series engine you can make it look kool. and you can also make it high horse power if your pockets are deep. thats just what i think.
