I'm gonna do it!!! Remove the AC
OK enough beating around the bush. I want a big turbo, I want a fast car and the ac has got to go.
So enough whining about it it's coming out monday. So any tips on removing the whole system. I can pretty much figure out whats part of the system and what isn't under the hood. What about once things start going into the firewall?
Any diagrams would be appeciated.
Should drop some serious weight and give me a few horses so I don't have to rev so high at stop lights to get going.

I have run into enough car owners that I can probably say no you aren't fast.
**** I used to think my car was slow until I actualy went and raced so called fast cars.

ny ... people in new york do not need any AC so i guess that's good. i'm in southern california and i hardly use my AC. except before job interviews. by the way, both your cars are slow.

make sure you completely drain the system first and don't breathe that **** in. it takes a long time .. you'll think it's done but after a few second pause more freon will come out.
it's pretty straightforward to remove .. shouldn't take more than a hour even if you **** around a little bit.

I had mine out too for awhile, put it back in though, now that son of a bitch won't get cold anymore after it's been charged. Maybe I need to take it somewhere again.

my friend's juvenile bro did that to his DC -- took out A/C and PS. i think the kid must've been crazy. who in their right mind would do something that drastic to lose a little bit of weight?

Re: (doughboy_88)
took it out. The radiator for the ac was clogged with alot of dirt. It was really packed in there. No wonder that thing was never cold. It did help with the start stop crap you got to do here in ny. I don't have to rev as high to get going which I really enjoy. Not like when I had the UR pulley but definetly an improvement. One nice thing is it really made space in the engine bay. Didn't realize just how many lines are for ac.
So much cleaner it almost makes me want to remove the power steering now!!! OK I wouldn't do this unless of course I found a manual rack that is more responsive. There are alot of lines just for that also.

definately do it man. it made a noticeable difference on my car. you don't need a manual rack. the power rack actually has a better ratio. padawan sells these kits for like $60 so you can loop the rack. well worth it, i highly highly recommend you remove that crap.
the wheel is a little hard to turn if you're dead stopped but once you get moving even at a walking pace it's no big deal. the feedback from the road you'll get is awesome, not to mention the horsepower gain and the cleaner engine bay. do it

For retarded posts like this...a little advice...buy a Haynes manual, it describes everything in clear details...nobody wants to break downa whole walkthrough of how to take out your A/C to make your 130 hp turd, run a 15.67 at the track instead of a 15.78.

Re: (rfoster03)
I dropped an H22 in my civic, and I can't fit P/S or A/C in my car...let me tell you P/S is kinda a pain in the ***, but I live in Pittsburgh and it gets really humid and hot in July August Sept, and when it pours down rain and the temp is like 86 degrees, its either get soaked with the windows down...or roast in the car ad EVERY WINDOW fogs up...
