Do a gsr. Ask people with stock N/A b16's and ask them how disappointed they are.
I've had two friends swap b16's into their civics and are dissappointed because the b16 feels like a D series until you get the 4k rpms.
The Extra money for a GSR you can't make up for in a b16 with bolt on's etc.
The b16 has the same tourque as your stock engine.

You won't find a non-sketchy B16 for $950.
Do some more research.
Then when you find out how much the B16 sucks you can get an LS w/ a B16 trans and be happier w/ more power...

A few of my friends have them, I was extremely disappointed the first time after doing the work to swap it in, even with the CTR (though I've only driven one), same bullshit, as soon as a hill hits you're downshifting like hell because they got torque worth of ****. It's not as bad as the B16 but the B16 feels like a D16 until later into the RPM band. Though 4k? No, like 5500 is where it makes a diff IMO . Personally, I think they bite **** for their price.
I'm tellin ya, do an LS w/ a B16 trans, you'll meet your budget (<$950), you'll rape B16's all day long, and you'll have plenty of torque for a daily driver. Then you can throw an ITR FD (or you can keep the B16, whichever is taller is what I'd use for a wider variety) in it and an LS 5th and you'll get ownage in gas mileage too.

I HIGHLY recommend HMotorsOnline!!! Bought my motor from them and I am VERY happy with it! HMO has a very good reputation, and the guy is willing to work with you with any problems you have. Motors are clean too! DEFINITELY go B18! I got a B18C (SiR-G) to put in my EG and the **** is crazy! F-K B16... no replacement for displacement
