Default Illumina vs AGX

i was just wondering, not sure if this is true, but for the illumina's does it have the adjusting dial on the top of the shock mount (ie motor area for front and in the hatch for the rear ones) or is it on the side like the agx (hopefully im right for that one also)? this could be the deciding factor for which i get, *note: had 2 other posts about illumina vs agx*

AGX only warranties their coilovers up to a 1.75 inch drop i believe. anything above that and its all you.

personally, i would say **** both of them and get some koni yellows, i hear nothing but good things about them.

Koni Yellows leak then blow out. Tokico Ill's are pretty good. Tokico HP Series are trash. KYB AGX's are sweet. I got them, I know. They are also adjustable from the top with a screw driver kyb gives you in every strut box. Its like cereal. Free gift in every box.

I couldn't convince myself to spend money on adjustable struts since I don't autox or whatever. I can't see the benefit of adjustability on a daily driven car...if you got the $$ go for it, you'll be better off...I just went with GR2s and I'm happy with them for what I use them for.

In my experience KYBs are generally bouncier than Tokico, but seem to be more stable in hard turns. (I've driven cars with GR2s, AGX, blues, and Ills)

las time i was at a local shop...i was looking at tanabe coilovers and on the strut it said KYB. so KYB must be supplying tanabe their struts.

I have the Illuminas for my EK, they're all on top.. the AGXs i've seen the front on top and the rear on the side of the strut body on the DSMs..

What ever suits your savvy.

for agx's,
the **** is on top for the fronts, and prettymuch all aplications.

and its on the top for the rears too, on some applications, but for some cars, the rears have the **** on the side.

not sure about iluminas

ok let me put this in my perspective:
$50 more for illumina ($350 on ebay)
compared to the $300 for the agx...
is it worth the extra $50 *note: that 50$ comes to become alot once converted into CAD and shipping etc..*

on the Tokico Illumina shocks, how much of a spring rating can they safely handle? i've been thinking about getting GCs with the custom spring rating of 400# in the front and 500# in the back. the only problem is i've heard that the Tokico Illuminas may not be able to handle them without breaking. how true is this? sorry if its a dumb question

so why do people refer spring rate with the number symbol? you kno this: "#"
isnt it 400 LBft instead of 400# wtf is 400 number?

anyways, nader D consider this. 50 bucks now or another 300 later.
if i remember correctly you wanted to drop your car about 2 inches right?
well kyb's only warrenty 1.5 inch drop. anything lower than that will kill
the dampers quickly. i am currently about 2.5 inch drop and my illumina's
dampens them very well on #3.

its been how long since your first post? i dont know but since that day you
could have saved up the differance if you jus put away a couple of bucks.
but yea, if i were you i would wait and save up for the illumina's.

I've got AGX's on my lude for about 3 years and no problems. I've driven the whole time with the shocks on the highest setting (4), and love it. I just bought AGX's for my hatch, and the adjustability is easy, just turn a small **** on top of the shock and you're set. Like they say set it and forget it

they probably can. some how they might, not sure on that. you can do that DIY thing
to increase shock travel, im planning on doing that soon.

when a shock is messed up, do you bring it back to where you bought it or send it back to KYB?
