Ignitor from different model/year. Compatibility question
If you've noticed, I've posted a few questions about my car not starting, not running right, etc. Well, here's a basic rundown of what I have done.
1993 Civic LX
Converted from auto to manual
Swapped in a built B18C1 and it ran great, died, ran great again, died.
Running a chipped P28 with Hondata S300
Civic EX brakes in front, rear disks in the future. Trac and sway bars being hooked up soon (installed, but missing hardware).
I've replaced my battery with a new one, ECU with a known good one, both the engine and under dash wiring harnesses with known good ones, legit Walbro 255LPH HP fuel pump, reflowed my main relay, both fuse boxes replaced with known good, gauge cluster with a known good one.
-----------------------------------------------------
My one suspect part, is my distributor. I know I have either a bad ICM or coil. People are saying to get a new OEM distributor, but for a GSR engine, that's $500. A new OEM ICM and coil meant for that engine is over $300.
Anyway, since I can essentially swap any engine with it's respective distributor into my car, that means all distributors are essentially interchangeable. Right? So, can I run any ICM from any Honda or Acura as long as it was a 4 cylinder and has the basic design of my original?
The ICM for my engine is about $200, and the one for a 90-91 integra is $80. If it's doing the same thing, does it matter?

Re: Ignitor from different model/year. Compatibility question
Well, if you come across this, I guess I found my own answer. Someone on a different thread said that you can switch ICMs between B and D series. And the ICM I had in my GSR distributor is apparently compatible with H and F also. So, it looks like it really doesn't matter.
