Default Ignition switch lock not turning

I have noticed on my 93 civic hb that the ignition switch lock assembly seems to stick at times, and not physically turn at times. I have tried some lube and it helped a little bit, but I think I may just replace the cylinder lock. Would it be safe to say by just replacing the cylinder lock itself and not the whole assembly would resolve my issues with the turning of the key? Does the assembly that the cylinder lock goes into have anything to do with the key not turning? Any information would be helpful.

you could take the actual switch part off the back of the ignition (the white part) and see if the lock turns a bit better. Ive heard of the switch failing and getting jammed up.

if your steering wheel is turned after taking the key out it will lock in a position in wich it will cause the whole ignition switch to freeze, do undo this, turn your steering wheel in the only way it will turn, then try to start it up.

I made sure the steering wheel was straight and the steering wheel was never locked.
