Ignition Switch? Advice needed...
I have a 95 Civic DX - was running fine last night. This morning I went to start it and when I turn my key it starts, but dies as soon as I let go. If I hold the key in place, it runs for as long as I hold it in position, when I let go it dies....
Any thoughts? My initial diagnosis is that its the ignition switch - but I may be totally off. Thank you!

Re: Ignition Switch? Advice needed... (maxbobble)
I would say that its must either be the ignition switch, key cylinder assembly
I had the same problem about 2mo ago now. I just traced the signal, turns out my switch was good; however the connections and 70amp fuse dependent upon this operation had gone bad.
Check ur physical connections, fuses and relays, bust out a multimeter and follow ur path from switch voltage supply.. switch...relay.. etc
This also might not be the switch, look at your key cyclinder assembly. The spring like mechanism found inside the key cylinder might be the reason for your troubles, if the car does start when u turn the key in the ignition then ur good.
If the car starts and runs fine the way u indicate, then the next logical step is how can I drive with one hand and hold the key in the ignition while I drive... or
You could remove screws until you can get your key cylinder in your hand, try to find what portion of the cylinder actually locks the key in place, that could be your problem.
I remember buying a switch and cylinder for about 150$... switches for 92-95 civics are the same as integra LS.GSR... ebay for a good price. Other wise NAPA/BAP/autozone/pepfools/etc- will assrape u with an estimate of 300-500$ for parts.
Please find a smart friend or a mechanic willing to work for boose and go at it.
Good luck with getting ur ride running.
BTW:: i pushed my previous 95 civic dx to 260k miles on the original motor with scheduled maintainence.. and its still running strong.
