Ignition Switch 5th Gen
Hi guys,
I just recently starting having problems with the physical portion of my ignition (92 Civic Hatch). For example, I’ll pull into a parking space and the key doesn’t want to turn off as if it is stuck. I have to manuevor it around to get it out. Recently, I started the car up rather quickly and the key BOUNCED OUT yet the car remained running.
I’ve had a long lasting mystery problem, where I get intermittent no crank no starts upon turning the key. Because of that, I usually turn the key on and off super fast to get the intermittent no crank issue to stop.
Is that ruining the mechanical portion of my ignition? Maybe this is now showing me that the electrical and mechanical portion are fried.
What are my options as far as replacing the entire ignition with new OEM? I can only seem to find what looks like door and trunk key cylinder kits:

There is a DYI video I've seen on how to change the lock cylinder of a honda ignition as long as you have the key(s) to both cylinders.
With this, you might be able to get a keyed ignition with electrical from the salvage yard and just swap your lock pins into the salvage yard so your key works on it. This will replace the majority of the lock cylinder as well as the electrical.

Interesting.. do you have a link to that video?
Also, are there any alternatives to the salvage yard? Any way to get a new old stock OEM ignition?

Their are so many, plus idk if you just need to replace just the key switch or the whole ignition switch w/wires. Just go on ebay an in search bar type in yr,make, model an put ignition switch an see what it brings up for you. Plus if you read description it with give you #'s. Talking about this I think I have a full steering column that came out of a 94 eg 4 door ex in my building car was running /working switch before I stripped it down. If you would like i can see if I see # on it should be pretty much the same. An I'll send pic tomorrow around 11 eastern time.
