Default Ignition Issues

I already searched and have no answer. I'm not sure if I search wrong. But I have ignition issues and need some advice.

Finished my jdm zcvtec swap. I'm using a d16z6 distributor, TD-42U. We checked timing with a timing light and the timing was retarted. So we tried adjusting the dizzy timing was still wrong. We advanced the timing on the dizzy all the way and still timing is retarted. We double checked everything. The dizzy, the cam gear, and the pully were all on TDC. And we don't know why the timing is retarted. Any advice would be appreciated.

Im not quiet sure what your problem is.. is it not running right when you drive? is it idling high? when you say retarted do you mean in terms of advance/retard or retarted as in "not working"? double check the timing belt first. make sure everything is tight. or you can redo the timing belt again.. check all alignment markers. after you do that set ignition timing again.

has anybody jumped the service connector while they're doing this???? if not as u turn the dizzy the computer is going to compensate for these changes... u must lock out computer control to properly set base ignition timing.

Check to be sure your timing belt isn't a tooth off.

if your timing is still off when you adj the dizzy then your timing is off check the belt and timing marks on the cam gear(s) and block and set the dizzy back to zero and go from there.

x2. Very common mistake for folks who do not do timing belts lots. Also, please confirm you jumpered the service check connector, per wrenchez81's post.
