Icon3 If Anyone can Figure this out = reward

Just did mini me swap found out I have a JDM 1.5 (d15a) instead of the z6. The car ran fine never drove it but it ran for about 15 minutes. It bogged down and died and has not started since.

It wasn't getting spark to my knowledge so I started with the coil. Keep in mind im using the y7 diz. The coil did nothing. So then I got the right diz thinking this would solve my problems but apparently not (1.5 diz).

I then had an idea of maybe the main relay. Took the fitting off the rail it does get pressure. Took the rail off and attempted to crank the car it doesn't inject fuel so I got a new main relay and still nothing. I also tried to pull codes with the obd2 ecu in with an obd scanner the scanner cannot connect to the car.

I also tried jumping the connector to pull codes, it does not signal any code. At this point im fed up with the car, im running out of ideas ive tried differnt ecus everything. Checked all grounds even the thermostat ground. Checked all fuses. About to just pull the motor and start new with a fresh harness but even that im douting will fix it, im tired of wasting my time. Any idea or anything would be greatly appreciated thank you.

did you pull the dizzy cap off and check your wires going to the ignitor. with the key on do that and if your getting voltage there put the cap back on and check at the spark plugs. just remember to use the dizzy that matches to the ecu your using.

it almost sounds as if your fuel pump went out. i didnt read the post fullly but definatly check that out to. just KOEO and listen to the pump. if your getting no sound then try putting 12v directly to it if still no sound you need a new one.

Its just weird how it was running then suddenly dies and now is not running. I have the 1.5 diz and a chipped p06. I cannot hear fuel pump but seeing as im getting fuel pressure i dont no what the deal is.. ill check readings on the pump any way though.

yea it may just not be putting out the right pressure. but i would put the dizzy back in that the p06 is tuned for. is it running on stock injectors.

I have a basemap from phearable for a y8 because thats what i thought i was getting when i ordered the chipset. But the y7 or y8 diz wont fit the head.

they are definatley not the same timing tables for the y7 and y8. which one are you using in the head. and you are using stock injectors right?

I have CEL but cannot pull the codes, the obd scanner will not connect, and the service connector wont make the light blink.. stock injectors from the 1.5 and even if the tables are wrong for the diz i would still get fuel.

true that. you may have fried the injector driver but not likely. do you still have the stock ecu. did you figgure out you had fuel by taking the bolt off the fuel filter

I tried stock ecu still nothing. I pulled the bolt from the rail and cranked it fuel came pouring out.

by pouring out you mean like a gallon or a little pour. these are situations where it is so much easier to just be there. when you put the dizzy back n did you have power with the key on to it.

Timing is good checked it several times all though this did happen right after i changed the belt but like i said i checked it numerous times. Im not sure on the fuel i told my friend to tell me if fuel comes out wen i turn the key and he yelled that it was flowing out and said a **** load came out so i would imagine alot of it was coming out then.

well if it has fuel and the injectors arent firing then the problem is the injectors. hopefully you didnt fry the injector driver im guessing your using the stock injectors but you didnt mention the year of the car so you may have needed a resistor box. could be the main relay as well. try soldering it. just pop the cap off and inspect it. if the solder is cracked then that is your problem and it is really hard to tell with the naked eye so i would just suggest resoldering them anyway

What year Civic? What wire harness and ECU?

When the key is turned to ON(II), do you measure battery voltage at the fuel injector connector?

Have you checked whether the one ECU/main relay fuse under the hood or the two ECU/main relay fuses under the dash are blown?

98 civic dx, stock 96 dx 0bd2 harness,chipped p06 with a jumper harness to 0bd1.

Measured volts at injector clip it was .5 i believe..

checked all fuses they are fine.

Also the block is a 2000 1.6 non vtec and the head is a d15a JDM vtec head not sure on the year its an obd1 head though i know that.

Double check whether fuse 44 under the hood or fuse 13 or 31 under the dash is blown.

With the key in ON(II), you should measure battery voltage (~12V) at all four fuel injector connectors. The low measurement of 0.5V tells you to troubleshoot the main relay circuit. Here are the diagrams to guide you:

Ill check that out today if it clears up, if this fixes the fuel problem what about the spark issue? Or is it all tied together. What would cause the car to run then suddenly die it doesnt make much sence.

With the key in ON(II), do you measure battery voltage at the BLK/YEL wire attached to the ICM in the distributor?

When you measured 0.5V on the YEL/BLK wire at the fuel injector connector, what did you use for the ground source. Compare voltages using the thermostat housing versus the battery ground wire as grounds.

Lack of fuel and spark may or may not be related. Logical troubleshooting should sort things out (follow the diagram step by step). Nonetheless, if a fuse isn't blown, then it sounds like the ECU is not getting properly grounded.

it really sounds like a main relay problem, although you are getting fuel from the fuel pump. The fact that it ran for 15 mins and then stopped is weird. Its either the relay, or a fried wire, or a fuse. Although if your injectors are too old and you were running them with your ECU they would have needed a resistor box. Although you said its a OBD-I setup so I doubt thats the case. Although im not sure if itw as the same on the JDM Versions as it was with the USDM versions. Are you getting power to the dizzy? What about the main relay?

A bad main relay could potentially power the fuel pump but not the fuel injectors as they are on separate circuits. It seems unlikely that the main relay is bad, however, as replacing it did not solve the problem.

yea, i know what your saying. It makes sense for it to be the relay and for it to not be the relay. if you know what i mean

Substitute a good known dizzy and check for spark.
