Default IDLING QUESTION...

Whenever I come to a stop or a light or where ever...My car idls up and down. I'm not pushing the gas or anything. It idls up to 1200 then back down so low that I think my car is going to stall then back up. Anyone know what this could be? Thanks.

I have had this happen with a vac. leak. That will usually cause uneven idle. Another more scary problem is a faulty head gasket. I blew a SOHC motor this way before...

check your IACV. and it sounds like your idle adjuster screw might be set to low as well.

Vac leaks are sort of guess and check unless your car is throwing a code. The idle adjustment screw is on the throttle body. More towards the firewall but facing the passanger side of the vehicle

I would certainly check the Idle Air Control Valve. Even in the Honda manual it notes to be very careful with this component.
